My wife and I love winter. We snow shoe, cross-country ski, we go snowmobiling, ice fishing, etc. Basically, we spend as much time out in the winter as we do in the summer. One of my favorite things to do outside is grilling in the snow - the aroma drives my neighbors crazy.
The book of Job 37:5-7 says “God…does great things beyond our knowing. He says to the snow, ‘Fall to the earth’; likewise to his heavy drenching rain. He shuts up all humankind indoors, so that all people may know His work.”
Heidi Mann writes that snow is a winter gift. Snow, ice, and cold can make winter a hassle. A “Snow day” due to a blizzard, may thrill students, but usually inconvenience parents. But now and then, winter blankets the earth so heavily that it seems to quiet everything. We’re granted permission to hunker down at home, snuggle close with family or pets, enjoy a book or a movie, make hot cocoa or cookies, and rest. It’s low-key a surprise Sabbath -the gift of grace & time - when no one’s expected to get out the door or driveway.
Perhaps indeed, as Job declared, God sees fit on such days to put our busyness on hold and shut us all indoors so we pause and remember his work - his place - in our lives.
Blessings,
Mr. Landgrave

Snow is not white. It typically appears white because visible light appears white. Frozen water particles are translucent, but the sunlight’s reflection gives snow its white appearance

A Note from our Director of Marketing & Enrollment - Mrs. Bateman
Yesterday, January 19th, we opened enrollment for the 22/23 school year. If you are an existing family, your enrollment has been "rolled over" for the new school year. What do you need to do? Simply make your $100 deposit (if paid before March 1st) to the school office. Don't delay too long, as we have new students enrolling and some of our classes are nearing capacity.
Do you know a family or friend who is looking for a change in 2022? They don't need to wait until next August to join the BIA family...in most cases, new students can start with us throughout the year!
We'd so appreciate you sharing your BIA experience with friends and neighbors. If you have family or friends who are interested, please direct them to myself (abateman@biachicago.com) or have them call the school office. We'd love a introduction, and as always, are thankful for your help in spreading the word about BIA.
