What's Blooming? 11/21/22
A Message from Principal Fox...
As I sit here and reflect on last week, I'm nothing short of thankful, grateful, blessed!
Thankful to our PTO for organizing Fall Feasts for all of our students as we all gathered and enjoyed time together.
Grateful that we were able to finish off the week with not only our Honor Roll assemblies that had to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Nicole, we also held our annual Kindergarten Holiday Parade to kick off the holiday season.
Blessed to be a part of this wonderful Franklin family at Cooper City! Your generosity, as always, overwhelms me every time! We were able to provide four big boxes of food donations to those in need in our very own community as part of the "Baskets of Hope" food drive.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday this week, looking forward to having the students back next Monday the 28th!

HMH @ Home
Families,
If you are experiencing an issues accessing Clever and/or HMH from home, the problem is usually caused by conflicting credentials on your personal device.
For your student(s) to access the HMH products at home, it is very important that you log out of your personal Gmail accounts before your child logs into Clever.
Please try the following troubleshooting steps:
- If you are using Google Chrome and have a profile setup in the browser, please log out of it.
- If you are logged into Google.com with a personal account, please log out of it.
- Then access https://clever.franklin-academy.org with either a Clever badge or the provided student username/password.
- If you are using an Apple product and Safari is you default browser, you must first download Google Chrome and access through Chrome.
PS. Did you know that your Clever Parents account can provide instant-login access for your child, in the event that they don't have their Clever badge or don't remember their credentials?
International Baccalaureate Corner: November's Learner Profile Trait - Risk Taker
The IB Learner Profile aims to develop students who are risk-takers. Students who are risk-takers are able to approach unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with courage and forethought. They have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas and strategies. Risk-takers are brave and articulate in defending their beliefs.
IB students transition well to challenging university settings and show resilience and determination in their work. In academics, they have the confidence to approach new or unfamiliar subjects or material.
A child with a growth mindset has the ability to take risks.
You've probably been hearing a lot about growth mindset. Growth mindset is a valuable attitude that encourages children to have perseverance, to approach difficult tasks with confidence, and to focus on what is achievable with hard work. Below are some fun activities to encourage growth mindset and risk-taking.

How can parents help to develop students who are Risk-Takers at home?
If your child is feeling uneasy about trying something, encourage them to attempt it and have them reflect on how it felt.
Set short term goals. Consider activities that push your child out of their comfort zone. Encourage them to offer their opinion, spend time learning a new activity, try a different food, learn a new game or even to spend time with someone they don't usually spend time with.
Explain the difference between being a risk-taker (trying new things) and engaging in dangerous activities. The key is to encourage healthy risks, not dangerous behavior.
Ask, "What's the hard part?" to identify the challenge and brainstorm ways to fix it.
Turn a negative into a positive- "I can't do that!" vs. "I can't do that...YET!"
Famous Fails- Research famous people in history that failed, but came back even stronger!
Character Counts- Read stories about characters that have faced obstacles and overcame them.
