Moving Forward

As we finish one school year, there is still so much uncertainty about how we will proceed for the Fall of 2020. It still seems far away, but plans must already be taking shape in order to ensure continuity of quality education. Ysleta ISD is already hard at work developing those plans and is in the proposal phase of some possible scenarios for next school year.

The district's goal is to build a calendar that plans for and anticipates short-term disruptions due to COVID-19. The calendar revisions would help address learning loss, minimize disruptions, and will require substantial change management.

We propose to have an intersessional calendar that provides flexibility and addresses learning loss. We propose an earlier start date, longer breaks, and a later end date. We will use the intersessional breaks in addition to regular calendar that can be used for remediation/acceleration and breaks required due to resurgence of COVID-19.

Below is some information on the research and process it will take to finalize these decisions.

Don't Forget About Census 2020!

It's tough right now to even think of the Census, but the results of the count will kick in when we get back to our routines and Coronavirus is behind us. Please ensure your family is counted as it impacts how federal dollars will be allocated for fire departments, hospitals, roads and school lunches! The code to complete the survey online was sent in the mail, but you can still complete it without a code. Here's where you do it Census 2020. It took me about 5 minutes!
