BECS Parent Newsletter
April 15, 2022
Dear Hawk Families:
Happy Friday! We have two weeks left in April and we are heading into the last month of school. There has been quite a bit of excitement happening in and around the building; field trips, animal project presentations, CMAS testing, athletic games, and more. I want to wish all our student actors luck with their production of The Big Bad Musical starting on Wednesday, April 20th. Our students were given an opportunity to see a portion of the musical today. Fantastic job!
Have a great weekend!

Executive Director Search Process Update
The search for the new executive director is underway! Candidates will be coming to school the week of April 25 and parents will have an opportunity to meet them and hear what they have to offer BECS. Additional information will be sent out next week with details on the date/time as well as information about how to submit a question for the Q&A.
Hawk Hero Parking
Please be aware that the Hawk Hero parking spot is reserved for staff that have been given that award for the week. By parking there, even if you think it's quick, it does not allow staff to enjoy that special time to park up front. Thank you.
Middle School Reward Day:
Middle School students will have another chance to participate in a Reward Day on April 22, 2022. This will be a time period at the end of the day where students get to build community, have some fun, and choose an activity of their choice. The only requirement is that they cannot receive an office referral between the time frame of Monday, March 28th - Thursday, April 21st.
Parent Chaperone Meeting
For parents/guardians who will be attending Outdoor Education as a chaperone, there will be a mandatory meeting held on Wednesday, April 20th at 6:00pm in Mrs. Frazier’s classroom (Room 050). You will need to enter through the South doors for this meeting. The main entrance will be locked at that time. It is very important that all chaperones for this trip attend as Mrs. Frazier will be going over chaperone duties and expectations. This is also an opportunity for chaperones to ask questions or address concerns. If you cannot make this meeting after your best efforts, you may view the recording of the meeting.
Pastries with the Principals
Would you like to hear more about what is happening at BECS? On May 6th from 8:45 am-9:30 am our two amazing Principals will be offering up some yummy pastries and time to chat. Please RSVP using this LINK so we know how many treats to have waiting for you. Hope to see you there!
Staff Appreciation May 2-6
If you are looking for a gift idea to give your student's teacher for Staff Appreciation, the Scholastic Books Company offers eGift Cards. Teachers love getting items for their classrooms to build their book selection. This also goes along with our goal to get more books in the hands of every student.

Technology:
Social media is a part of daily life for adults and teenagers, however, It can be very difficult for middle school students to know how to handle the social-emotional effects of issues that arise from these sites. Here is a pdf from Common Sense Education, which includes conversation starters to utilize when talking to your child about the many topics that arise when using social media. Please take the time to talk with your child to ensure they are using social media appropriately and safely.
Theater: It's almost show time!
