Early Release Friday, Dec. 13 @ 2:00
Kindergarten Registration and Open Enrollment
If you have friends or relatives interested in attending Anthem School, encourage them to contact the front office for a tour. We are accepting Open Enrollment applications for the 2020-2021 school year! Applications are due December 15, 2019 for priority consideration.
Save the date: We will have a Kindergarten Open House on January 30 from 5:30-7:00.
Happy Holidays! The Anthem staff wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Being mid year I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support of your child and Anthem School. We are so fortunate to have so many involved parents, guardians and volunteers that help Anthem go the extra mile.
Each Wednesday we send out this e-newsletter to keep you informed of campus events and highlight some of the amazing things that happen each day at Anthem School. I want to encourage you to take a moment to read the All Things E.Q. article that is included each week. This parent message aligns to the weekly motto that is posted on every white board in classes, is mentioned daily on announcements and is on the electronic marquee in front of the school. The week concludes with a classroom meeting discussing and applying the weekly motto. We include the parent message in the e-newsletter so you can talk with your child about the motto and help emphasize application and how it relates to you!
Sincerely,
Deb Roets & Tina Craig

Hello Parents,
Our motto for the week:
I steer clear of gossip.
Our kids need honest conversations about gossip because gossip is tricky in that it has some appeal. For example:
- Gossip is blame, but at first, it feels like problem-solving.
- Gossip is isolating, but at first, it feels like a connection.
- Gossip adds more negativity to your life, but at first, it feels like a release.
Gossip is a wolf in sheep's clothing because it tricks us with its perceived upsides, but it has a bite. Despite the bonding and the connection gossip can initially bring, it ultimately leaves a bad aftertaste. Gossip has an addictive charm, but we are better people without it.
Like any addiction, gossip begins by participating. There are three easy tools we can share with our children to help them navigate a conversation that turned to gossip.
1. Don’t participate. (Don't add anything to the conversation.)
2. Change the subject. (Find a neutral topic: What's today's lunch menu?)
If one and two don't work:
3. Walk away. (Go to the drinking fountain or use the restroom - find a reason to leave.)
Additionally, you might want to discuss with your family, while you are on the topic of gossip, that in your family you keep one another safe. In other words, family members don't share embarrassing stories about one another because everyone has each other's back. Family is a safe place to share worries and concerns and hopes and dreams.
Have a great week,
Danna Evans
