The Hoot Owl

DECEMBER

INFORMATION TO KNOW...

We hope you had a great Thanksgiving Break making memories with your families. This will be a fast-paced few days so please make sure your child comes to school daily so that they don't miss anything!

Fourth grade holiday program will be on Thursday, December 12 @ 6:30 for parents. Please watch for more details.

Early Release is on Thursday, December 19.

Winter parties will be held on either Wednesday, December 18 or Thursday, December 19. Watch your child's folder for more details from your child's teacher.

Thursday, December 19 will be Polar Express day at ORE. Students are invited to wear school appropriate pajamas and enjoy a fun-filled half day of school.

All students should be dropped off at the front of the school in the morning through the car rider line. Please do not drop off at the back gate as we have no one on duty to ensure that students get into the building safely at that location. Also, please do not pull into the parking lot and drop your child to run across alone. If you pull into that parking lot, you must park and walk your child across at the crosswalk.

THANK YOU!!!

Oak Ridge Elementary was the recipient of an anonymous donation covering ALL lunch debt through November 18. The donor chose our school randomly and wants no recognition for this amazing gesture. If your child had lunch debt prior to November 18, it has been paid in full!

As a thank you to this donor, it would be great if we could work together to keep debt to a very minimum for the rest of the year.

TEACHER GIFT CARD DONATIONS

We are asking parents to drop off or send in a $5-10 gift card to common stores. These will be used as prizes for the staff throughout the month of December and as give aways at our annual staff party. If you would help us treat our teachers, please drop off one or more gift cards and let the front office know they are for the teachers.

Some suggestions are:

Target

Starbucks

Sonic

Walmart

Panera

ATTENDANCE STATISTICS:

PARENT SUGGESTION BOX

Below is a link to an online "parent suggestion box." These will be looked at every week or on an as needed basis. If you have anything you would like to compliment our school on or any specific concerns you think need to be addressed, please feel free to complete the form at the link. It is an anonymous form with an option for you to register your name. If you do not give a name or email address, you will not hear a follow up as we will not know who to contact. However, the concerns will be addressed in the appropriate committee meetings.

SAFETY IS A PRIORITY

If you have any tips about safety and security that need to be reported to the CISD Police Department, they have two options to use are anonymous reporting tools. Please help us stay safe by reporting any concerns you might hear.

Transportation

Just a reminder that car rider must be left off in the front of the building using the car rider line. We still have students being left off at the side of the building who are walking through traffic to get to the front doors. This is a safety issue and in order to keep everyone safe, all students must exit the car in the front of the building.

We are also still encouraging all parents to use the car rider line for drop off in the morning. If you park, you must walk your child to the front door instead of sending them across traffic by themselves.

VOLUNTEERING

Each year, in order to volunteer at ORE, parents and other family members must complete a volunteer application with the district. Please take time to complete that using the link below.

DATES TO KNOW:
