Jaguar Update
Sunset Valley Elementary - March 11, 2021
Flood's Flash
Please see the message below, from Katy Bergen, in regards to 3 Asynchronous Virtual Learning Days this spring.
Dear LSR7 Parents and Guardians:
We know that vaccines are one of the best measures available to protect against COVID-19, decrease quarantines in our school community and ensure fewer disruptions to our students’ access to high quality learning.
That’s why we are so excited to share that LSR7 has finalized two vaccination opportunities for LSR7 employees interested in receiving a vaccine following school personnel’s eligibility to receive vaccines after March 15. These opportunities just for our LSR7 staff are as follows.
Saturday, March 20, 2021 (First shot)/Saturday, April 10, 2021 (Second shot), offered through the Jackson County Health Department
Thursday, March 25, 2021 (First shot)/Thursday, April 15, 2021 (Second shot), offered through Truman Medical Center
LSR7 has received special permission from the state to hold virtual learning days on the weekday dates in which many of our LSR7 staff members will be receiving vaccinations. Due to the potential of staff call-outs related to employees feeling ill after receiving their second shots, we will also add one additional virtual learning day after the weekday second shot clinic. Our plan is as follows:
- On Thursday, March 25, Thursday, April 15 and Friday, April 16, the district will have asynchronous virtual learning for all students. Staff members will be unavailable for check-ins or assistance and learning will be completed independently through Schoology.
- Since our secondary students are currently learning virtually on Wednesdays, middle and high schoolers will now report to school in-person on the following Wednesdays --- March 24, April 14, May 26 --- to balance the three new virtual learning days. The remaining Wednesdays will continue to be virtual learning for secondary students.
Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work to provide this critical safety measure for our staff. You can find more information on our newly created vaccination webpage.
Best,
Mrs. Rachel Flood, Principal
Mrs. Amy Westacott, Assistant Principal

ALLERGY ALERT & Water Bottle Donations
Hello from the Health Room.
Allergy season is upon us! If your student has allergeries, it may be a good idea to start giving them allergy medicine before going to bed or a non-drowsy allergy pill in the mornings before school. You may also bring an unopened bottle of medicine to the school for your student to keep in the Health Room.
Bottled Water Donations:
Due to COVID, the water fountains can not be used. We are in need of bottled water donations to help those students who forget their water bottles or just don’t have one to bring. We would greatly appreciate any water bottle donations you could supply. Just drop your donations off at the school office. Thank you for your help!!

A few notes on protocols and health guidelines for LSR7
* Staff and students wear masks at all times unless we are taking a mask break while socially distanced.
* Students will hand wash and/or sanitize hands each time they leave and enter a new space. Ex: from classroom to art, from PE to recess, from classroom to lunch, etc. . .
* Classroom desks/tables will be sanitized each time students eat breakfast.
* Students will maintain consistent seating charts in classrooms, at lunch, in special class and students will have assigned line orders. These practices will help us should we need to contact trace.
* The schedule has been build with extra time in between recesses and special class so equipment and materials can be cleaned.
