Celebrating Public Schools Week in Mora, Minnesota
In many ways, public schools in Minnesota are interwoven into the fabric of our state, yet they are often overlooked. Therefore, during the week of February 27–March 3, we celebrated public schools and considered how they affect us all.
For generations, public schools in our state have been the center of our communities. Public schools are places where all families feel welcomed and where all children, regardless of their background, race, ethnicity, native language, zip code, or socioeconomic status, are loved, respected, and celebrated.
At Mora Public Schools, we are especially proud of the dedication of past generations of leaders who worked to ensure that our children received a quality education. Although our public schools have served our communities for decades, they are constantly evolving. In our district and in public schools across Minnesota, teachers, staff members, and administrators work with our families to ensure that the next generation of graduates has the knowledge and skills required for a successful future.
Mora Public Schools are committed to providing our students with all of the skills to be successful students and citizens now and in the future. We are proud to provide our students with numerous opportunities to excel in academics, activities, and arts. Mora is fortunate to have world class facilities for our students to learn and grow. We thank our community for providing these opportunities and facilities for our students and staff
As we celebrated Public Schools Week, we recognized the amazing individuals who teach students in the classroom, drive school buses, prepare nutritious meals, support students’ mental and emotional health, maintain and repair buildings, and give so much of themselves to support our schools and our students.
We also recognized that public schools are a significant economic driver for our communities, as they prepare students for not only today’s jobs but also the future jobs required for our dynamic economy. It is no wonder that the state’s economy is connected to the quality of our public schools.
We must not take the historical success of Minnesota’s public schools for granted. Instead, we must acknowledge that this success is the result of the hard work and investment of generations of Minnesotans who came before us. We must care for the gift of public school education that we will hand to future generations.
Our schools cannot do it alone. They need the assistance of our families and communities to provide the resources and support needed to help students thrive. Even though Public Schools Recognition Week has come and gone, let’s continue to show our support for Mora Public Schools and the dedicated people who work tirelessly to provide a high-quality education for all of our children.
Sincerely,
Daniel Voce

HEALTH OFFICE UPDATE
Student(s) who become ill or injured during the school day are to report to the health office. The nurse or health para will determine whether the student needs to be picked up by a guardian or able to return to class. Students leaving school without checking out will be considered unexcused. Please make sure your phone numbers and emergency contact information has been updated within the office, so the health staff is able to contact the appropriate person if needed.
It's never too early to start thinking of the next school year! I would like to make parents/guardians aware that incoming Kindergarteners, 7th graders and seniors need updated immunizations. We will be sending home letters for all those students that need updated immunizations before the end of the school year. These immunization (or notarized exempt forms) will need to be on file by the first day of school (Sept. 2023) to avoid being excluded.
The best way to reach me is via email: shaunacronk@moraschools.org or connect with the MES health office (320) 679-6200 ext. 4007 or MHS health office ext. 5032. My direct line is (320) 679-6232. Thank you again everyone, and I hope everyone has a great rest of the school year!
Thank you so much for all you do to keep our students happy and healthy!

Educational Benefits Letter and Application
Dear Family,
The Mora School’s Nutrition Department welcomes your child for the 2022-2023 school year. We are turning on the ovens and creating the menus in excited anticipation of students filling our cafeterias again. School meals are a vital piece of a student's health and education, and we're prepared to feed them all so they can succeed!
Receiving a meal is very easy. Every student is assigned a student PIN number that is tied to their meal account (one meal account per family). This account is similar to a checking account, where purchases are deducted from funds applied to the account. Funds can be applied by cash or check paid to kitchen staff, school office, or online using a credit/debit card after logging into your family WordWare account.
Child Nutrition Program COVID waivers issued by the federal government have expired.
Lunches will not be no-cost for all students in the 22-23 school year
Households need to complete an application for educational benefits to receive no-cost lunches.
All students will need to enter their PIN each time they take a school meal
When you submit the application, your child(ren) may qualify for additional benefits such as reduced fees or the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) which is a federal temporary emergency nutrition benefit that is loaded onto electronic cards for families to purchase food. At public schools, your application also helps the school qualify for education funds and discounts.
How to fill out the application…
You can complete and submit Applications for Educational Benefits ONLINE. The process is quick, easy, and FREE. No more paper applications are lost in the bottom of a backpack. Look for the BLUE button on your home page after logging into your WordWare account to start the application process.
You must create and register an account with www.family.wordwareinc.com to begin if you haven’t already. A WordWare Inc account will allow you to view all transactions your student(s) make here at school, deposit money into your family's Meal Account, and submit the Application for Educational Benefits. If you need the information to register a new WordWare Account, please nutrition@moraschools.org
Paper applications are still acceptable please click this link. Complete the application and return to the District Office.
If you have any questions about the Nutrition Services Department, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Cally Hanson
