Meet the Adams Support Staff
New and returning Adams Middle School families, welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! We hope you are as excited as we are to kick off the new year. In addition to amazing teachers, Adams also has a team of support staff to help our students succeed. Our team includes school counselors, a School Psychologist, an EL Advisor, TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment), and three interns. We are looking forward to a busy year working with our students and their families. Please read our bios to get to know a little about each of us and we encourage you to come and meet us at Coffee with the Counselors on October 11th 2018 (More information below).
Mrs. Amber Beach: School Counselor (Last Names A-K)
Greetings! I am super excited to be starting my fifth year as a counselor at the finest middle school in the South Bay. I serve students and families whose last names start with the letters A-K. I was born and raised in beautiful Bishop, CA and spent my childhood hiking and camping in the Sierras. College brought me to the big city where I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology with a Minor in Education from Loyola Marymount University. After studying and volunteering in Europe and Africa, I completed my Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Counseling and my Pupil Personnel Services Credential from Cal State University Dominguez Hills. I love the outdoors, traveling, cooking, humanitarianism, quality time with friends and family, and my turtle Sheldon. I look forward to working with you!

Mrs. Gina Guglielmana: School Counselor (Last Names L-Z)
Hello Eagles! This is my third year working in Redondo Beach Unified School District and at Adams Middle School! I support the social, emotional, and academic needs of students with last names, L-Z. I grew up in Wildomar, CA and throughout my K-12 experience I participated in ASB, yearbook, Cheer, and a variety of clubs. I transferred from Mt. San Jacinto College and graduated from UCLA with my Bachelor’s degree in American Literature and Culture. I earned my MA in Education with an Emphasis in Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services Credential from the University of Redlands. I love animals, traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to a busy and exciting school year!

Mrs. Ashley MacDonald: School Counselor (Project Alert and Second Step)
Hi! My name is Ashley MacDonald and I joined Adams Middle School in the spring of 2017. I support programs on campus including Project ALERT, Second Step, Tobacco Use Prevention Education, and the Adams Wellness Council. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Spanish from UC Santa Barbara and my MA in Education & Human Development with an emphasis in School Counseling from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. I also hold a Pupil Personnel Service Credential in School Counseling. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, traveling and catching up with friends any chance I get. I am at Adams Thursdays, Fridays and alternating Wednesdays.

Dr. Jenna Walsh Tsuruta: School Psychologist
Hello Adams Eagles! My name is Jenna Walsh Tsuruta (the ‘T’ is silent, like Tsunami) and this is my third year at Adams Middle School. I have been a School Psychologist for twelve years. I completed my Master’s in School Psychology at Loyola Marymount University, where I spent many years as adjunct faculty teaching an ‘Introduction to Cognitive Assessment’ class. I recently completed my doctorate in Educational Leadership, specifically Educational Psychology, at USC. I grew up in the South Bay, and currently live in Redondo Beach. My hobbies include swimming, Pilates, reading suspense novels, volunteering with boy and girl scouts, painting, and spending time with my children. I will be supporting students who have Individualized Education Plans, providing DIS counseling services to students with IEPs, and conducting assessments.

Mrs. Jennell Tanaka: EL Academic Advisor
Hello, Eagles! My name is Jennell Tanaka, and this is my fifth year as an EL Academic Advisor with an emphasis in counseling at Adams Middle School. I have the opportunity to work with our English Learners (EL) to assist them in acquiring the English language and supporting them in completing their courses. I also have the opportunity to work with all students during our 4-year high school planning and matriculation to Redondo Union High School (RUHS). I have my Masters in Education with an Emphasis is Counseling and my Pupil Personnel Services Credential from National University. I earned my Bachelor’s in Studio Art at Long Beach State. I enjoy spending time with my family and attending as many Angels games as possible. I am at Adams Monday-Wednesday and RUHS, Thursday and Friday.

Mr. Luke Olesiuk: TOSA and Title I Coordinator
My name is Luke Olesiuk and this is my first year as the TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) at Adams Middle School. As the TOSA, I am responsible for supporting our Title I student population, facilitating Student Success Team meetings, implementing student inventions and supports, as well as other administrative duties. For the past two years, I have been one of the Elementary Lab Science teachers at Lincoln and Beryl Elementary Schools here in Redondo, and for the 11 years prior to that taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math at El Segundo Middle School. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies/Teacher Education along with my teaching credential from Dominican University of California, and just last year completed my Master’s Degree in Education/School Leadership along with my administrative credential at Cal State Dominguez Hills. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, running Tough Mudders and GORUCK events, and hiking/climbing/backpacking in the Sierras.

Ms. Leticia Garcia: School Counselor Intern
My name is Leticia Garcia. I am a Masters of Social Work student from California State University, Long Beach. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Studies as well. I am a Los Angeles native from the sunny hometown of Venice. I have worked three years with students in LAUSD schools as a tutor, teacher and mentor. I also have experience with Early Head Start as a parent educator and home visitor. I am excited for my internship year at Redondo Unified! I hope I will be able to provide students with the support they need and serve as an advocate for them and their families.

Ms. Athena Padilla: School Psychologist Intern
My name is Athena Padilla, and I am the school psychologist intern working alongside Dr. Jenna Walsh Tsuruta. This is my first year working at Adams Middle School and I am excited to build connections with students and staff. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Upon my return to California, I was a technology teacher for 3 years teaching grades K-5 and providing integration support for teachers. I am currently working towards earning my Ed.S. Degree in School Psychology from CSU Long Beach, as well as a Pupil Personnel Services credential in School Psychology. I enjoy reading science fiction and mystery books, watching new shows on Netflix, and relaxing at Venice Beach. I will be interning at Adams Tuesday-Thursday, as well as at Redondo Shores Monday and Friday.
