A Very Easy Death
By Simone De Beauvoir
Summary
It begins when Simone receives a call saying her mother is in the hospital with a fractured femur and a broken neck. She rushes to the hospital to find her mother in pure agony. Throughout this short novel, Simon, her sister, Maman, and many friends and family experience a rollercoaster of emotions, positive and negative. Maman's journey is truly one to read about in this non-fiction book.
Main Characters
"Death itself does not frighten me; it is the jump I am afraid of."
Conclusion
As said in the title, Maman does pass away, but it's in an unexpected way. I would say this book is definitely a more mature read filled with complex situations some would find hard to comprehend. I recommend this book to those who are looking for a non-fiction slightly hard book full of twists.
