Picture Day

Friday, September 30th, is picture day at BBJH. Pictures will take place during students’ English classes. Picture forms will be given to students to bring home during Bear Block on Thursday. These can be turned in to the photographer when they take pictures.

You are also able to order a portrait package online by clicking HERE. Our school's online order code is: FM391068.

In addition to the convenience, ordering online with this link will allow you to sign up to receive updates via email regarding your child's school portraits. These updates include promotions, additional deals, and the ability to order more pictures later. NOTE: When entering student information, make sure to enter the student's name as it is on file at the school.

If your student is absent, picture make-up day will be November 4th.

Bear Branch Junior High (BBJH) is partnering with Yes to Youth – Montgomery County Youth Services to help meet the social, emotional, and mental health development of our students. It is a privately funded organization that provides a variety of different counseling and intervention services to our youth and their families, at no cost. In collaboration with this well-known community organization, group counseling services are being offered on our campus to students who would like to participate.

Bear Branch football went undefeated across the board for the second week in a row.

7C beat Magnolia Junior High 20-0 with Touchdowns by Emmanuel Rojas and Jesse Hackett, along with a great rushing game by Bryce Burgess and a fumble recovery by Owen Speck.

7B defeated Willowwood 13-6 With touchdowns by Tyson Glowacki and Chase Tessone, and the defense was led by Carter Edwards with a fumble recovery and Robin Olin.

7A pulled off a thrilling come from behind victory, with a game winning 99 yard interception return by Magnus Vigin. The offense was led by Philip Brown, Magnus Virgin, and Nikolas Ensminger and the defense was led by Jacob Gibson and Tristan Wright with a fumble recovery.

Great job 7th grade!

8th Grade C beat Magnolia Junior High 19-7 with Touchdowns by Santiago Vera Pernia, 2 touchdowns by Joseph Rampolla and a great rushing game from Banner Carlson. The defense was led by Hayden Thompson.

8th Grade B remained undefeated beating Willowwood 16-28. The offense steamrolled Willowwood with Touchdowns by Ty Heuring to Cole Murphy, and rushing touchdowns by Rene Rosales, Kadence Pittman, and Andrew Oldham. The defense was led by Cy Tolbert, Braylon Hobbie, and Cole Murphy who racked up multiple sacks.

8th Grade A brought home the win 26-22. The offense was led by Chase Lowery, Jeramiah Guidie, Cash Ferrell and Jackson Smith, and the defense was led by Ty Miller, Joseph Louviere, and Dylan Sanchez.

A & B teams will take on Waller Junior High next week, 7th grade away and 8th grade home.

The 7B Lady Bears played an outstanding game against Willow Wood Junior High Thursday. The Lady Bears came out strong winning the first set 25-14. A more competitive second set resulted in great team play. The team pulled together to fight for the win in the second set 25-21. Outstanding servers of the game were Raegan Garcia who was 18 out of 20, and Lexi Simmons who was 14 of 16. Other players of the game were Jennifer Pittman, Caroline Bullion, and Sydney Muse.

Lady Bear 7th grade A team took on Willow Wood. The Lady Bears came out dominating in the first match 25 to 11! All around team play. The second match, the Lady Bears struggled but came out with a win, 25 to 21. Outstanding server of the game was Kylie Lucas with 11 out of 11! Coach Murdock is very proud of this win. The 7th grade A team is now 2 and 1 for the season.

The 8th grade B team defeated Willow Wood in volleyball action last night, winning with the scores of 25-4, 25-6. Outstanding players of the game were Arianna Cortes and Rylan Benignus. The 8th grade B team is now 3-0.

The 8th grade A team defeated Willow Wood with the scores of 25-8, 22-14. Players of the game were Cadyn Albers and Sophie Gomez. It was a great team win! Coach Cicherski is very proud of all of the girls' hard work!

The team is in action next week, when the Lady Bears will face Waller at home on September 29.

Cross Country

The Bear Branch Junior High Cross Country team participated in a Cross Country meet Wednesday, Sept. 21st at Magnolia West High School. There were 6 teams and about 60 runners in each division. Below are the top 5 runners in each division. Come out and cheer them on at Montgomery JH next Thursday. They would love to see their teachers out cheering them on.

Attendance and Notes

MISD makes automated phone calls for students who are marked absent. If you feel your child has been mistakenly counted absent, please email his/her teacher for that specific period.

Be sure to turn in absence notes when your child is out. There are several ways to do this:

  • Students can bring parent/doctor note to the front office
  • Parents can email the attendance clerk at
  • Parents can fax the note to 281-252-2060
