CMS PTA News
CMS PTA is applying to be a National PTA School of Excellence
The Crabapple Middle School PTA knows that a strong partnership among our families, school leaders and community members is important to the success of our students and school. That’s why we are participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.
At a National PTA School of Excellence, families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement. We feel Crabapple Middle School and Crabapple Middle School PTA can achieve that together—and the result will be national, state and community-wide visibility for the positive impact we are making together at Crabapple Middle School.
We need your help! As part of the process, National PTA requests feedback from families, administrators and teachers at two points in the school year—the beginning and the end. Your feedback will help us improve our family-school partnership and achieve excellence.
Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at this completereturn this survey to by clicking here. We will be collecting responses through October 31.

PBIS Reward Store - HELP NEEDED!
Parents - Getting middle schoolers to behave at school can be hard! They have all this newfound freedom that they don’t quite know what to do with. CMS is using PBIS to help students want to do the right thing. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support. It is a reward system for the students. Stop talking when you're told to do so and you get points! Help out another student in the hallway and you get points! You get the drift. Well, CMS needs help launching a PBIS store for the students to use the points they collect.
The PTA is supporting their launch by collecting donations for store items. They plan to open the store TOMORROW, October 5th. While they will collect items all year long to keep supplies up, they NEED ITEMS NOW! Please use the Amazon Wish List to donate items.
A PTA Chairperson is NEEDED to help support PBIS initiatives! This person would help support end of semester PBIS celebrations, help organize store donations, schedule any parent volunteers who would like to help run the store once it is open, and anything else PBIS related. Do you have time to help Mrs. Pritchard and Ms. King, the PBIS Team? VOLUNTEER NOW! Email cms.pta.presidents@gmail.com
Garden Work Day THIS Sunday October 22 from 12-3
Students and families can help... can come for one hour or all three. The work is service-hour eligible and there will be a sign in and a sign out. Students are welcome to work without a parent present, but younger siblings require a parent or a high school sibling or older to stay during the work time.
We have a small supply of tools and gloves, however, please bring gloves if you have them and let me know if you can bring a shovel and a wheelbarrow. There will also be refreshments.

Husky Helping Huskies News
Community Outreach at CMS
Huskies Helping Huskies (HHH) currently assists 35 students and families in need right here at CMS. Students are referred to the program by teachers or counselors, and families then apply for consideration to receive six HHH distributions of food and gift cards throughout the school year.
We rely on the generosity of our community to fund these distributions. If you are able to help, please donate through the Walmart gift registry or make a donation via Venmo or PayPal. Cash donations are applied to upcoming distributions, the next of which is Thanksgiving-themed, followed by the Shop With a Hero holiday event.
Should your family be in need of assistance from HHH, please reach out to Kristi Glickman at kglickm@gmail.com
Thank you for being a part of our community.
