Math
We will be learning about metric system and customary system and the differences between the two. We will review units such as length, volume, mass, and temperature. The students will have the chance to try to measure things with different tools. The students will be able to discuss what types of things they can measure with the different units.
Reading
This month, we are focusing on finding books for each student to read with ease and enjoyment. Our focus will be on the plot of the story, setting, and characters. The students will have the opportunity to do a creative project to show their understanding on those three main things in class and at home.
Writing
We will be doing collaborative activities where students are working together to create a story. We will also be learning about parts of speech such as verbs and nouns. The students will be writing in their weekly journals each Friday.
Science
This month, we will be taking a look at the planets of our solar system! We will be learning about the size of our solar system, what each planet is made up of, and where they are located. We will also be creating our own planets and giving life to it by naming them and giving them physical characteristics.
Social Studies
We will be learning about the states of the United States of America. The students will be able to pick their own state to do researching on and to present their state. We will learn about the different characteristics that the states are known for.
