HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 4 - 23 February
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to Dave Edwards and his Year Four Dominic Gang performed admirably at today’s assembly – it was great fun! Congratulations to our student leaders - refreshed after a huge week on camp last week – who received their badges at today’s assembly. Every one of these students plays an important role in the leadership of Holy Rosary, and I thank them for their example, their initiative and their good-will.
By now you will have seen the permissions required to access blog notes. This has been a difficult and time consuming process. We wanted access to be easier for you, but Google permissions meant that it was not to be – our apologies.
The Year Six Catherine Class Mass is on, on Thursday at 9am. Everyone is welcome to attend. Also, Father Peter is keen to welcome you over to the new Parish Centre for coffee after mass, and I would encourage you to take him up on his offer if you have the time. His welcoming nature and genuine interest in people make him good company.
Have a great weekend.
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

Holy Rosary Community Reps 2018
Hello
We’d like to introduce ourselves – we are the Holy Rosary Community Reps for 2018: Mark Nolan, Michelle Della Franca, Kristie Denham, Jean Williams, Kellie Von Bergheim, Natalia Della Polina, and Sue Griffin.
We’ve put our hands up because we all believe in the importance of community and supporting the school to provide the best opportunities for our children.
Yes, technically we are the P&F Committee, but we feel we would like to serve the school in a slightly different way, which is why we prefer the idea of being Holy Rosary Community Representatives (more like Class Reps, but for the whole school).
We hope to…
- Build community: Have some fun! Create friendships and support for each other.
- Support family businesses: Help families to prosper. Provide opportunities for families to ‘give back’ with skills and financially.
- Empower parents: Arrange seminars and events that inform and empower parents.
- Provide resources: Raise funds for school resources and facilities – for fun and for learning; as well as fundraising for causes.
You will see us around – please feel free to approach us at any time or email holyrosaryhelpers@gmail.com
FIRST HOLY ROSARY COMMUNITY MEETING
The first Holy Rosary Community (HRC) Meeting is on Tuesday 27th Feb 2018 at 7pm in the staff room.
It's our first meeting for the year and we plan to discuss the exciting events for the year ahead as well as all other relevant HRC school matters... whilst also keeping it brief!
We would love you to have you there! Everyone is welcome. Feel free to come along just to listen or share some ideas - whatever suits you.
We hope to see you there!
COLES SCHOOL FOR SPORTS
As mentioned last week, don't forget to keep collecting the Coles School for Sports Voucher for Holy Rosary. You receive 1 voucher for every $10 spent at Coles. At the end of the campaign vouchers will be redeemed for sports equipment for the school.
We will advise once the bins have arrived at the school (these are where you place your tokens). Hopefully this should be in the next week or so. For now we request you keep collecting and hold on to your tokens. Thank you!
CLASS REPS 2018 – WE NEED YOU
Thank you to those parents who have volunteered to be Class Reps for 2018. We really appreciate it.
We are still missing a number reps for the all the classes listed below. We would love these filled ASAP. For all of those parents that have said, “I’ll do it if no one else volunteers…” it’s time to come forward! Please consider volunteering for these roles and please let your class teacher know if you are interested.
Remember – less emails this year! With HR Facebook, the newsletter, blogs, and class Facebooks Groups to keep people informed, Class Reps shouldn’t have to send out as many emails – instead they can concentrate on supporting the teacher & class and organising some social outings. Thank you!
REPS ARE REQUIRED FOR:
· 3yr old Kindy
· 1D
· 2D
· 4C and 4D
· 5C and 5D

Children's Liturgy at Our Lady of the Rosary
Just a reminder that Children's Liturgy has recommenced this year. It's on during the 10am Mass and is held in the new parish centre (Rosary Community Centre - the nice new building on the south side of the church). This week we learned all about Noah's Ark, and had the story re-enacted by one of our children. It is led by several of our lovely Holy Rosary mums, and the children are enjoying the varied activities each week.
As an added bonus this coming Sunday (25th Feb) there is a morning tea in the new parish centre following the 10am Mass. All are very welcome to attend.
GENERAL NOTICES
All past priests and current and past parishioners are invited to celebrate a special Mass of thanksgiving for St Mary’s Leederville Parish on Sunday 4 March. Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB will celebrate the Centenary Mass at 10.30am. This will be followed by refreshments in the Aranmore College Centre for the Arts and Sports Science CNR of Franklin and Oxford St Leederville. No RSVP required, just come along.
