Brookwood Oratorical Contest
On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, Ansley Chiston from Mrs. McCormick's class and Justin McIlwain from Ms. Fingerle's class, were chosen to represent Brookwood at the Forsyth County Elementary Semifinals, which will be held on Thursday evening, February 22 at the Forsyth County Courthouse.
Congratulations Ansley and Justin and best of luck in the County Semifinals! Also, congratulations to all of the classroom winners who participated in Brookwood's Oratorical Finals. All of the speeches were amazing!

Brookwood Elementary Family Trout Release Day
When: February 24, 2018 - Come Out and Join Us
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Where: Jones Bridge Unit on Chattahoochee River off Barnwell Road, Johns Creek

Brookwood Elementary is proud to invite all of our families to join us in the release of our trout! We have watched them grow from egg to fingerling over the past 6 months and it is time to release them into their natural habitat in the Chattahoochee River. Please join us for the release on February 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Bridge Park. Directions are on the link above. What an enriching experience this has been for our students to learn about the rainbow trout life cycle, food chain, and their imperative role in the river ecosystem. Now is it is time to say good-bye and good luck to our trout friends! Please join us in the final chapter of this event! For more information, please contact Ms. Hayes at hhayes@forsyth.k12.ga.us.
Trout in the Classroom Release

10:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. History of Chattahoochee River and conservation measures
10:15 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Release the trout in the river by Brookwood students
10:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Rotate through the following stations
- Healthy/Unhealthy stream exhibit & insect life cycle exhibit
- Trout rod rigging & knots
- Water test equipment and water quality analysis
- Chattahoochee River fly patterns
- Casting demonstration and participation
Note: This schedule is flexible and we plan to wrap up by noon. The release of the trout will be from the steps going to the river from the parking lot. Other discussions will be held in the parking with display tables set up by the Upper Chattahoochee River Trout Unlimited chapter member.
Jump Rope for Heart
- Raise $100 or more ONLINE and be entered into a drawing for an electric scooter.
- Raise $10 or more ONLINE and be entered into a drawing for a Razor scooter.
- Top 10 earners in the entire school will win a limo ride to Mellow Mushroom where lunch will be provided.

Daddy-Daughter Dance
PE Summer Camp
Coach May and Coach Feuerbach are excited to offer a
PE Summer Camp at Brookwood Elementary
Students will have the opportunity to play all their favorite PE games, field day games, learn new games, and practice sports skills. Parents will have the peace of mind knowing that their child is in a safe environment. This is an active PE camp so prepare for a lot of moving, exercising and fun!
Registration is open to the first 65 participants. At least 30 students must be enrolled or the camp will be CANCELLED. This camp is for Brookwood students ONLY.
Date: June 11 - 15, 2018
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Ages: Rising 2nd - 6th grade students
Cost: $125 on My Payments Plus https://mypaymentsplus.com

According to Georgia law, children must be five years old on or before
September 1 in order to enroll in Kindergarten.
How to Register:
Step 1: Visit http://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/KKenroll
Step 2: When the page opens you will need to do 3 tasks:
1) make an online appointment to come to the Hill Center to register
2) pre-register your child's information into our online system
3) review and gather all documents required*
*If you are missing any documents, please STILL REGISTER. You will be incomplete, but this will allow the school to have your contact information and inform you of upcoming kindergarten events. You can return completed documents at a later time that is convenient to you.
