LMS Tiger Talk
September 2, 2022
Principal's Message
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we were forced to close school on Monday due to a problem with our building cooling system. We are all systems go once again and appreciate the quick response from our maintenance team in addressing the issue.
To celebrate the start of the NFL season next week, next Friday 9/9 we'll have our first spirit day of the year, and asking all our students and staff to sport their favorite NFL jersey, clothing, or colors to root on their team. (While I hope to see a sea of black and orange, and students can expect to hear a lot of "Who Deys!?" coming from me, all NFL team clothing and colors will be accepted :)
A reminder that we will not have school on Monday, 9/2 which is Labor Day. I am grateful to all the hard-working staff at LMS and our hard-working families and hope everyone gets some time to relax and enjoy the start of college football. Have a great 3-day weekend!
Take care and Go Tigers!

LMS Mentoring Program
Loveland Middle School is beginning a mentoring program where LMS students will partner with students with special needs. This partnership will occur during an adapted gym class held during Tiger Time. Throughout this mentoring program, students will cultivate leadership skills and will support students with special needs.
Students involved will have the opportunity to:
- Buddy with students with special needs
- Lead activities and games for a small group of students
- Foster relationships and build an inclusive and fun environment that will carryover throughout all classroom settings
- Increase physical activity experiences for students with special needs through significant one-on-one relationships
- Participate in training over the role of being a successful mentor
If your child is interested in applying, they can click here to complete the application (which is also included in their morning announcements email). The deadline to complete the application is Tuesday, 9/6. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Angel at angelra@lovelandschools.org. You can also reach her by calling LMS at 683-3100.
**Students who are on Student Leadership Team or are involved with the Student Announcements Team may not participate due to scheduling conflicts.

Car Riders - Drop Off/Pick-Up Information
For those students who are being dropped off or picked up at school, we want to remind everyone of the pickup and drop-off process for the LIS/LMS campus. While our front parking lot is still under construction for some needed updates and repairs, you will follow the same process to start the year that has been in place in years past (as illustrated below):
- Pull in the front main entrance off of Lebanon Rd.
- Follow the cones (lines coming soon) in the picture below before dropping off or picking up your student(s) at the Main Entrance. You will loop behind the back parking lot. This allows for more cars to get off Lebanon Rd. during busy times.
- Your child should not be getting out of the car until you enter the drop-off area.
Main Entrance doors will be open for drop-off in the AM beginning at 7:05 AM. Drop-off and pick times have typically ranged between 12-15 minutes during peak traffic, but with new start times this year as well as more students expected to ride the bus in the morning, we will need to see how this timing looks to start the year. Additionally, inclement weather typically results in longer times needed for drop-off as more students are being brought to school and things move a little slower.
Drivers, please also be aware that we will have students walking and riding their bikes to school each day. Please be careful and keep an eye out for students crossing the street and driveway around our campus. You can see the marked crosswalk locations in the picture below where students and pedestrians should be crossing.
If everyone follows the process accordingly, we know it to be the most efficient and safe process possible given the volume and our campus layout. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in following the established process for our car riders. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Lunch at LMS
The federal pandemic-related program that provided universal free meals to school-age children has expired. School lunch and breakfast will no longer be free for everyone in the 2022-2023 school year. All students will be required to enter their PIN number (their student ID) for their purchased or free/reduced lunches. You can find your student’s PIN (student ID) number at TigerParent.me.
Families who qualify for free or reduced lunch can complete the application at PaySchools Central. Completing the application now will allow your student to start the year with free or reduced lunch if they qualify.
Students can purchase breakfast for $2.00 and lunch for $3.50. Extra milk can be purchased for $0.60. To avoid having your child handle cash at the register, you can load funds to your child’s lunch account on the PaySchools Central website. You may also add funds to their account by sending in a check with the student's name and PIN (student ID) in the memo. Please note that when a student does not have sufficient funds in their account or cash to pay for lunch and reaches a charge balance of -$10.00 (approximately 3 meals), a letter will be generated by the Nutrition Office and mailed to the parents along with automated phone message notifying them and will continue until the balance is reconciled. Nutrition Services is happy to accept donations to pay off lunch debt for students who owe meal charges.
Menus will be on the Loveland City School website along with nutritional information and common food allergies in early August. Menu items are subject to change due to availability and food shortages.
For more information, call Nutrition Services at 774-6201.
