Mrs. Hessert's Kindergarten Crew

News from Room 304

What a wonderful start we have had to our Kindergarten school year. We spent the week getting to know our classroom and meeting new classmates. We also explored the different areas in our school thanks to Barnacle Bart, our favorite classroom pirate, who left us clues throughout the school and sent us on a treasure hunt on Monday afternoon!

A Peek At Our Week

Explorations and Expectations

We will spend much of the first few weeks of school doing "guided explorations" of the tools in our classroom, as well as establishing expectations and routines that we will rely on for the rest of the school year.

Each day this week, Barnacle Bart has left us various objects in his treasure chest to explore. Together, we have had a chance to use our classroom's pattern blocks, watercolors, snap cubes, dice, art supplies, play doh, and more! These guided explorations have given us a chance to learn about how to use our shared materials in a responsible way. We also took a moment to share what we created, which gives everyone in our class a chance to showcase their hard work!

Friendly Reminders

Below are a few dates to put on the calendar!

  • Friday September 19 - Picture Day Order forms went home last week. If you did not receive one, please let me know. The sooner you can return these forms, the better!
  • Tuesday September 30 - Kindergarten Math Time Our class will visit Mrs. Butterworth in the math lab from 9:45 - 10:20. I will be requesting the help of one parent volunteer for that day. If you are interested and available on that date, please let me know. More volunteer opportunities to come in October, I promise!
