Just In Time - Cyberbullying Presentation For Parents

Recently, I learned of several situations involving the inappropriate and hurtful use of social media amongst our students. While much of the conflict from these situations spills over into the school setting, the issues generally begin when the students are in their own homes or the homes of friends. Trying to responsibly monitor our children’s use of social media can be difficult and confusing.

I am excited to share news of an upcoming presentation that will be held at Groveland Elementary on Wednesday evening, February 10th @ 7:00 PM. The Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) and the Warwick Township Police Department are teaming up to provide parents with helpful information about social media trends, apps and online gaming, complete with valuable information and tips for parents. The presenters will also be available to answer your questions. PLEASE don’t miss this very timely program.

What a great job this year’s 18 participants did with navigating their “way with words”! All of the boys and girls did a wonderful job representing their classroom. After almost two hours of stiff competition the winner was proclaimed! Congratulations to this year’s winner, Arya Nagaraja, and the runner-up, Phoebe Vallapureddy.

This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life.
