Writing Pathways
Lucy Calkins
Why such an emphasis on Writing?
2018-19 TCE Writing Exemplars
Writing is taught every day - planned, sequential, intense instruction using Units of Study.
Writers choose topics.
Paper choice reflects the levels of the writers. Paper should outstretch the writer.
Writers write for an audience.
Writers have pen to paper for 30+ minutes of the 40+ minute writing block.
Each writer will complete the 3 on-demand writings (these are not to be graded; they are formative; make a copy to show the writer's growth); students may revise on-demands if they choose to revisit them.
