Ancient China
Genghis Khan
Introduction
People could not believe what they were seeing! A nine year old chief! Genghis Khan was a strong man who had a rough life but was an intelligent ruler.
His Birth
Genghis Khan is not his actual name. His birth name is Temujin but he was later named Genghis Khan. Khan was born in 1162 with a blood clot in his hand. He had a very rough childhood. His mother was forced to marriage and kidnapped by his father. Genghis's father, Yesugei , also died when he was only nine years old. Since his father was chief of the Khamag Mongol confederation he had to take over and become chief but he was only nine therefore people refused rule by him. Because of this his family had to live in poverty.
Being Emperor
In 1206 Khan was still being called Temujin until he unified the nomadic tribes and then he was given the new name of Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan means universal ruler. 1206 was a big year for him because he also became Emperor of the Mongols. Genghis Khan started the Mongol conquest. He made the Mongols into a powerful army and killed many people in many attacks. By doing this he became known as a powerful leader. Along with being a great emperor and a strong chief he was a father to four sons and an unknown amount of daughters.
How It Came To An End
Genghis Khan died in 1227 shortly after the Xi Xia. Historians don't know the exact cause of his death but some say he fell off his horse while on a hunt and died of tiredness and injuries. Although he did start the Mongol conquest it didn't end when he died. His sons and grandsons continued to fight. While his death was a tragedy he did many great things such as: by the time he passed away he ruled all of Northern China, he made the Mongols a a stronger army and don't forget the whole reason he became emperor which was by unifying the nomadic tribes.
