Principal's Update
Dear Anasazi Families,
We have successfully completed Week 3 of Enhanced Distance Learning. The entire Anasazi staff values our partnership with you in making this a very successful school year.
Thank you to all who were able to view our Curriculum Night videos. If you have not done so already, please check your child's Google Classroom for the links. Below you will see a presentation from me in regards to Anasazi, grading practices, parent resources, and next steps for SUSD as we navigate schooling during this time. Please watch at your earliest convenience.
As a reminder, there will be a Special Meeting of the Governing Board at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1st to discuss in more detail a plan to phase in on-campus learning, once the metrics indicate it is safe to do so. Visit www.susd.org/Board 24 hours before the meeting begins to find a copy of the meeting agenda and any presentations, as well as the link to our YouTube channel where you can watch the video live or replay at your convenience.
***Please refer to the SUSD Communications email sent out 8/28/2020.
As always - I am keeping you all in my thoughts and wishing only good health for everyone. Looking forward to sharing next steps soon regarding the plan moving forward. As information is shared, I will continue to send updates.
Serving your children,
Ms. Jennifer Waldron
Principal

Anasazi Membership Toolkit - Please join or update
As the school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), we are excited about this school year and want to make sure you have the information you need to get connected and stay updated on everything that is happening at Anasazi! We plan to use electronic communication mostly this year and it is important to make sure we keep our community in the know especially during these unprecedented times. Please update your information on this site (including updating your student's grade and teacher) to ensure that you are included in all correspondence that relates not only to the school in general but also to your student's grade level. Also as an added convenience, we have added the Library’s “Birthday Book Club” Form and “Sammy Supporter” Form to our website. These forms can now be completed and submitted, and donations can be made directly through the Anasazi PTO website at https://anasazipto.membershiptoolkit.com.
August IB Learner Attribute - CARING
IB in Action from Home
- Be a model for the caring behavior you would like to see in your child all the time. Your child has big eyes and ears and notices everything you do. Using kind words, helping people without being asked, and being an active listener all show your child that you care about people. Even a simple thing, like holding a door for someone, shows your child that you are aware of others around you and want to help them.
- Think about how your family can get involved with community organizations.
- Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.
- After reading a book, spend some time considering how the people in the book acted. Was someone in the book caring? All of the time or just some of the time? Were all of the characters in the book caring or just a few?
Suggested Books:
- Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse, Kevin Henkes
- The Giving Tree, Shel Silverstein
- Yertle the Turtle, Dr. Seuss
- The Grouchy Ladybug, Eric Carle
IT Help Desk

Grades K–8 EDL Camps and Grades 6-12 Walk-in Learning Labs
In compliance with Executive Order 2020-51, SUSD provides a supervised place for our K - 8 students to be during the school day while parents work. We have five of these Enhanced Distance Learning, or EDL, Camps, located at Desert Canyon Elementary, Hopi Elementary, Pima Traditional, Pueblo Elementary and Tonalea K-8. We still have availability at this time. You can read more about the program here. If you are interested in your child attending an EDL Camp, please complete this form.
Our Walk-in Learning Labs for middle and high schools opened this week at Coronado and Saguaro High schools. The labs provide students in grades 6 through 12 a safe place during the school day to participate in their online learning. Unlike the EDL Camps, students are not required to stay at the lab for the entire school day – they can come and go as needed. Read more about the labs here. If you wish your middle or high school student to attend an SUSD Learning Lab, please complete this request form.
