Snow Days!

As per executive order 175, full virtual days are permitted to count towards our 180 days of school. Throughout this winter season all should always be prepared to move to a full virtual model should snow make travel to school difficult.

As is always the case, once a decision is made to go to full virtual due to weather conditions, WOBM, 94.3 The Point, NJ101.5 will be notified and we will also share the information via our district website, TV21, on a robo call to staff and families, email blasts, and social media.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to our December Students of the Month, Molly Nide and Svar Shah!

Molly serves as a Senior in Charge with TEAM and has been elected to National Honor Society. She is an active member of Captain's Crew, the Class of 2021, and our Writing Center. Outside of school, Molly volunteers her time in the SAIL and Reading Buddies programs at the Ocean County Library. Academically, Molly has been named an AP Scholar and a Commended Student in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. After graduation, Molly hopes to study Accounting at either The University of Florida or The University of Tennessee!

Svar serves as President of our National Honor Society and as the Vice President of FBLA. He is the Captain of our Varsity Tennis team and is involved with the Math League, Student Council, Roots N Shoots, Captain's Crew, and the Class of 2021. Outside of school Svar volunteers with SAHELI 4 Toms River and Ocean Medical Center. He is an AP Scholar with Honors and has received The Congressional Silver Award. After graduation, Svar would like to study Neuroscience or Biology at the University of Chicago, with the hopes of becoming a Neurologist.

EDUCATORS HONORED!

Congratulations to HS North's 2020-21 Educational Services Professional of the Year, Mrs. Michelle Riordan! She has been a professional educator since 1992, first as a History/Politics teacher and then as a Guidance Counselor since 2006. Mrs. Riordan came to our school in 2013 and currently serves as our AP Coordinator as well as our NJ Governor's School and Boy's State Chairperson. Active in the Ocean County School Counselors Association, Michelle oversees the Ocean County Caring Award. In her spare time, Mrs. Riordan knits Shawls and Baby Hats for charity. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family, but her favorite job is being a mom. When asked about favorite thing about our school, she quickly replied, "The fact that student's needs come first."

Congratulations to HS North's 2020-21 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Kyle Seiverd! Mr. Seiverd has taught at High School North for 9 years of his 10 year career. He currently teaches AP Environmental Science but has also taught Biology I, Environmental Earth Science, and Science I. Kyle chairs our School Climate Committee and has been instrumental in obtaining grants for our new Outdoor Classroom and greenhouse refurbishment projects. In addition to pursuing a doctorate in education, Mr. Seiverd enjoys Disney, traveling, reading, and elephants. He enjoys being an advocate for the environment. Finally, Mr. Seiverd counts the supportive nature of our school, his colleagues, and our students, among his favorite things about HSN.

Congratulations Mrs. Riordan and Mr. Seiverd!
