January 16 - Week 18

Welcome Back

Welcome back from what we hope was a fun and restful Christmas Break that was filled with quality time with your family. We are excited to return to Unity Preschool with many "Winter" activites ...... if only the weather would cooperate. Remember that we follow the Fort Mill School District (FMSD) regarding weather closures and if there is a delay, we will not have Preschool.


It is registration month so please return your registration forms and fees by next Thursday, January 23 so that you have a spot for next year.


Just a reminder that we will not have preschool this Monday, January 20 because the FMSD will be closed in recognition of the Martin Luther King holiday.

Snack, Wipe and Soap Donations Needed

Our snack closet is almost bare. We keep back-up snacks on hand for when our snack helpers may be sick or weeks when a snack helper may not be assigned. We would appreciate donations of any of the following:

*Gold Fish

*Animal Crackers

*Vanilla Wafers

*Graham Crackers

*Baby Wipes

*Hand Soap

Chili for Children Fundraiser - INFO COMING

Your child will be bringing home a Chili for Children order form next week. Unity Preschool will be selling chili and chicken soup on Super Bowl Sunday (February 2) to raise funds for our Scholarship Fund and our Park. Our preschool families will be able to pre-order and can pick up on Super Bowl Sunday or have delivery in the Monday or Tuesday car lines.

Color Days (Gray and White)

As you can see below, our students had fun celebrating Gray Day today. Our next Color Day is Thursday, January 30 and it will be WHITE DAY!

Meet Ms. Dannie - Our VIP

This semester I plan to feature one of our special VIPs (Volunteers Impacting Preschool) in each newsletter. Ms. Dannie is one of our weekly classroom helpers. She assists with Center Time in our Fishy class every Wednesday. Ms. Dannie has been a member of Unity for over 50 years. She is a retired school librarian and worked for 40 years in various school districts. She loves the Clemson Tigers, her dogs (Jimbo and Roxie) and volunteering at Unity Preschool!

Current Student/Sibling Registration for 2020/21 School Year: Registration Forms and Fees are due January 23, 2020 to reserve your spot for next year.


Chili for Children Fundraiser - Sunday, February 2. Order forms will be sent home next week.


Donuts with Dad (Three's and Four's): We will welcome Dads to Unity Preschool on Wednesday, February 5 (Three's) and Thursday, February 6 (Four's) for morning Circle time followed by a donut and coffee snack. This event begins at 9:00 a.m. and usually lasts about 35 to 45 mintues. Invites will be sent home the last week in January.

Miscellaneous Reminders

*School Closed:

MLK Holiday: No school Monday, January 20

President's Day Holiday: No school Monday, February 17

Spring Break: No school April 6 thru April 13


*Unity Hall Dismantling: A great amount of activity will be taking place during January and February on the side of our church campus facing the Post Office. We will keep you posted if any work poses a re-routing of car line, but we are hopeful to keep disruptions to a minimum.


*Label Clothes: Please remember to label jackets/sweaters/extra clothes that you send to school so that we can make sure they go home with the correct child.


*Folder Reminder: Please remember to empty your child's folder at least every week!
