PCHS Staff News
September 1, 2017
PLT is off and running. We are four days into traveling and today was the smoothest for the week. Students are showing their ID's along with orange cards and staying in assigned areas. We are still seeking input on improvements and have implemented some already. If you have anything you would like to share please add it to the Google Doc that was shared with you (PLT Questions and Concerns).
My supervision duty has me next to the media center. I was so impressed with watching students interacting with each other around learning every day in the media center. Additionally, the maker-space has become a popular destination for students to inquire and help create projects. This is a great example of our commitment to meeting the individual needs of students. Students were engaged and relationships were being developed between students and staff. The more we advance with PLT we are truly going to have a great opportunity to continue to align with the Principals of Learning.
Great work to everyone!

We want to highlight and promote what Platte City has to offer. We will have vendors, local businesses, organizations, a bounce house for kids, live entertainment, music, and food trucks. There will be something for everyone!

Homecoming - September 18-23
Platte County's Homecoming festivities run September 18-23.
This year's theme is "Home is Where the Anchor Drops" - a beach theme.
(See Spirit Days below)
PCHS will host the Victory Supper on Wednesday, September 20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Pirate Stadium. The Victory Supper will be a community pep rally with our coaches introducing the fall teams, alumni coming back to speak, and the crowning of the underclassmen candidates and the Homecoming King. This evening will also feature performances by the PCHS drumline, PCHS cheerleaders, as well as alumni cheerleaders. PCHS cheerleading alumni are asked to arrive at 6 p.m. for a short practice. Food will also be provided and the event is open to the community.
The Homecoming Parade will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 22, and will run on Fourth Street from Thomas Drive to Rising Star Elementary. Students will be dismissed three hours early that day. Parents and the community are encouraged to arrive by 2:25 p.m. as Fourth Street between Zed Martin and Thomas Drive will be closed to traffic beginning at 2:30 p.m. Thomas Drive between Siegrist Elementary and Fourth Street will also be closed. If you'd like to participate in the parade, please contact Kyle Perkins or Gena Puckett for an entry form by September 20. AGAIN THIS YEAR: There will be a shuttle bus to take parade participants and their sponsors back to the main PCR-3 campus. The shuttle bus will be parked along Zed Martin Drive. Floats will disband in the Rising Star Elementary parking lot and will take the path from the Rising Star playground to Zed Martin Drive.
Immediately following the parade, on the Courthouse steps, the Traditions Band will perform several pieces including the Platte County "Fight Song" to get in the Homecoming spirit. Wells Bank will also be hosting its annual Community Tailgate Party, which will feature a PCR-3 Voice Competition following the parade in the parking lot of the High Pointe Shops Shopping Center. Come cheer on your favorite faculty as they sing their way to stardom, and enjoy free food and drinks!
Homecoming Football Game: The Pirates will take on the Liberty Bluejays at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 22 at Pirate Stadium. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime.
