What's Happening in First Grade?

Miss Campbell's Monthly News Letter- End of the Year 2016

What's New?

We have made it to June! I'm sure we all can't believe these guys are almost second graders! We have a lot of exciting things coming up to wrap up a wonderful school year. We will be spending the next few weeks reviewing and wrapping up the year with some fun summer activities, including a camping themed week!

Good news! (for students and possibly parents): There will be no homework assigned for the rest of the year. Spend this time enjoying the nice weather, playing outside and reading!

I am looking forward to our class party. The party will take place at my house (18 Dean Street) on Friday, June 17th. It will begin right after school until 5 PM. Students need to be accompanied by and adult and siblings are welcome! I will be supplying pizza and an ice cream bar. If parents would like to bring anything feel free, maybe snacks some adults might enjoy :)

Reading

We have recently completed our last Reading Street Unit. This means there will be no more reading tests or spelling tests for the rest of the year. This week we will be completing our end of the year Benchmark assessment.

We have been enjoying reading Charlotte's web together as a class. As we come to the completion of the chapter book we will be watching the movie. It's always fun to compare the similarities and differences between the book and the movie!

What we have been up to!

I want to thank all of you that helped and participated in Field Day, we has a wonderful day of fun and games. It was a great activity to end the year :)

* Also I will be creating a class slideshow for the end of the year, if you have any pictures you have taken through out the year and would like them to be included in the slide show please feel free to send them to me.

Thanks for a great year!
