BPS Staff Back to School Update
August 25, 2023
Welcome Back, Everyone!
Yesterday some of our students with complex needs came into the school for their welcome-back meetings with support staff. We have a lot of needs coming into the school this year, especially in kindergarten. Educational Services has paired Tiiu Vail with our school for support for the first month or two. Thank you to our amazing support staff for coming in to meet families and students.
Yesterday was also the Junior Autism classroom open house - thank you to Cynthia, Niky and Morgan for all of their work in getting things ready to help these students transition back to school.
Staffing Updates:
- Jenn Marsh will not be returning to the Board. Susan Ramsay will be in as ECE to work with Kristen Collins.
- We were given 1 STEA position and are happy to share that Richard Harrington is back and will be working in kindergarten. Fingers crossed for more STEA.
- Sarah Perrett remains on medical leave - Cameron Ducharme will be covering for her (he was a student from SLC last year).
- At the moment, we have no lunch supervisors - if you know anyone interested in working 10:45-1:45, please ask them to contact the school next week
Tech:
Sandra and I will organize this ASAP so it is ready for you to pick up next week, if you are in. Due to some that were damaged this year and some that are end of life, you may not have as many as you had this past year. We are hoping to receive some more from IT but may need to order some.
Start-up Orders:
All are scheduled to arrive on Monday, Aug. 28. Thank you, Candy!

Announcements:
Is anyone willing to update our digital weekly announcements? Mostly just dates, birthdays etc. as everyone contributes to it.
Follow-up Items:
- if you want square whiteboards for your class, please let me know how many
- does anyone have any extra time to help organize the PE storage room? or teenagers for volunteer hours? Please let me know!
- any of the furniture/items in the back hallway (by learning commons) are up for grabs - please see Mike or one of the caretaking team members to get it moved to your room
- do you want the buckets of cleaner with wipes for your room? Please see Mike if you do.
- If you have current first aid/CPR please let Kelly know
Staff BBQ/Party:
Thank you to our social committee for organizing an event for us next week. Can't wait to see everyone! Let's start this year with connection!

Class Lists
We expect that we will have more registrations but also that some students will have moved out of the area. As soon as drafts are available we will share them with you.
Information about students will become available in Aspen next week. Please note that even though you may have students "in your class" on Monday in Aspen, those class lists and students may change during the week as we receive transfers and registrations.
Please note that class lists are to be kept confidential because they may change. If you receive inquiries from families asking about class lists, please direct them to the office. :)

8:49-9:05 am – Supervision on yard
9:05-10:45 am – 100-minute block
10:45-11:25 am – Recess & Nutrition Break
11:25-1:05 pm – 100-minute block
1:05 -1:45pm – Recess & Nutrition Break
1:45-3:25 pm – 100-minute block
Staff Absences
PPE and Safety Equipment
If you need any PPE (masks) or hand sanitizer please look on the shelves in the staff room.
There are some baseball-style hats for extra head protection - please see Sandra.
We will also get more Yak Trax/Heel Straps for the winter months, if needed - these are kept on the shelves in the staff room.
Confidential Information
Just a friendly reminder that if you need to get rid of documents, anything with personal information, it must go into shredding, not into garbage or recycling. This includes items such as phone lists, outdated IEPs, copies of reports, etc. If you aren't sure just ask! :)
Our shredding bins are located in the main office and the photocopy room.
