Counselor Connection ...

In classroom guidance lessons, 4th and 5th grade students are learning about Emotion Management. We are exploring how our brains and bodies respond when we experience strong emotions like anger, worry, frustration, and jealousy. Students are also learning steps to calm down before strong emotions lead to negative behavior and consequences. This knowledge lays the groundwork for learning skills to manage reactions to intense stress and conflict. Weekly assignments called “Home Links” that you can do with your child to reinforce what we are learning in class are on the website as well.

October is Anti-Bullying Month. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Check out our Elementary Guidance Website for more information. and more tips on how to stop bullying and be an Upstander. Have a great week!

Technology Fees ...

FYI - the district has a 32-member tech committee, made up of a variety of stakeholders, including parents, that researched costs as well as what other districts were doing in regard to tech fees and decided on the following for this school year: All students in the district are accessed a $25 tech fee, which goes towards the purchase of chromebooks, carts, ipads, etc., as well as replacements and repairs of student devices.

We are ALL IN for a Championship-type year at Chapman Elementary!
