ATTENDANCE MATTERS! Attend today, Achieve Tomorrow!

November Student Attendance Contest

Any student who does not miss any Advisory (4th) hour classes from Nov 2- Nov 19 will receive a prize of some Awesome Lotus Swag. Please encourage your students to attend every class, every day. Students will be notified if they achieve this prize via their student email on Friday the 20th.

Attendance is Taken Every Period on Friday!

You should have received a phone dialer and email regarding our decision to change Fridays to 100% asynchronous learning. Attendance will still be taken based on student engagement for every period of the day! Students are still expected to complete attendance forms for each period. Please make sure your students wake up before school starts (7:50 a.m.) to check Schoology to see the posted assignments and their due dates.

Avoid Attendance-Related Phone Calls....

Attendance is taken during Virtual Learning using Google forms for every period, every day (including Asynchronous Fridays)! To avoid attendance related phone calls, please ensure your students completes the Google form at the beginning of each class.

This test date is currently on hold due to current COVID-19 safety measures. Please complete this survey to let us know if you want your 2nd or 7th grade students to “opt in” to take the test. Send this completed form with your child on the day of the test when the new test date is announced.

Meal Distribution

Throughout quarter 2, meal distribution will continue to be available at the designated APS locations from which you have been picking them up.

Yearbook Club

Anyone interested in participating in the Yearbook Club this year, please contact Mrs. Bauer rbauer@lotusschool.org. We will begin our meetings this next week, where we will assign pages for completion. We will be needing assistance from all students and staff, in order to make this yearbook a success. Anyone with any photos please forward these photos to Mrs. Bauer. (Don't feel the need to tidy up - we want to record this time as it is - mess and all!) Last year we had over 2,000 photos to use for the yearbook. Our goal is to have over 3,000 this year!

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports. It seeks to reduce or eliminate unwanted, negative behavior school-wide through the recognition and encouragement of positive behaviors. PBIS decreases office discipline referrals, increases instructional time, and improves student achievement. This intentional focus on positive reinforcement is creating and maintaining a positive school culture and climate for the students and teachers.

High School Cheer Team

The High School Cheer team will begin some Pre-Season meetings/practices. Please contact Mrs. Bauer, or Ms. Hall, if you are interested in participating in HS Cheer this year. Please remember that you need to be eligible to participate. Mrs. Bauer can be reached at rbauer@lotusschool.org.

Boo to the Flu! Keep Your Family Healthier This Fall: Get A Flu Vaccine By Halloween

Flu season is here and the fact is that the flu can be scary; especially for the ones we love most. Everyone aged 6 months and older needs a flu vaccine to stay healthier this fall. Here is why:

The flu is dangerous. Getting your flu vaccine is the best way to prevent the flu. It saves lives and protects those on the frontlines. Both flu and COVID-19 may be spreading this fall, so it’s more important than ever to get an annual flu vaccine. The best time to get vaccinated is before flu viruses start to spread—typically by the end of October. So, don’t wait. Say boo to the flu by making sure you and your family get a flu vaccine by Halloween.

Facebook

Lotus first opened its doors in August 2006 with a total of 147 students in grades 6 and 7. Each year after that, its enrollment increased gradually to finally reach over 900 students, with grades spanning from Kindergarten to 12th. In such a diverse and disadvantaged community, for over a decade, Lotus has managed to instill interest in students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Today it is one of the most successful schools in Aurora.
