PTA Elections for the 2016 – 2017 Executive Board
PTA elections for the 2016 – 2017 Executive Board were held last evening. We appreciate those who were able to come out to vote. The slate included : Co-Presidents: Emily Shih & Lisa Gordon; Vice Presidents: Vanessa Gordon, Carissa Fravel, Vanessa A-Reed, & Margo Williams; Treasurer: Merissa Gamba; and Secretary: Jennifer Maise. Thank you to these folks for offering to share their time to support our children next year. Kudos also to our 2015 – 2016 Executive Board members for all they have accomplished for our school this year.
This week our building was quiet as everyone concentrated on doing their best on the Georgia Milestones. Students in grades 3 – 5 completed the GMAS exams. Student attendance was excellent! There were fewer make up tests this year than any other year. Parents, we thank you for making sure the children were here on time every day for the important assessment. The online GMAS was new to the students and staff this year and other than a few technology glitches the testing went fine.
GCPS Summer School
GCPS summer school for our cluster will be at Harris Elementary and online from June 6 to June 30 for students in grades 3, 4, and 5, who do not meet promotion criteria on the Georgia Milestones. If you are a parent of K – 2 students, you are receiving midterm reports today. Third through fifth grade midterms will be delayed a week due to the Georgia Milestones assessments. Please be sure to check the parent portal for updated grades and attendance for your child.

Ms. Birozes wants me to remind you about the upcoming Field Days May 18 – 20. Volunteers are still needed for each grade level, especially second grade parents, and should plan on arriving 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time. Student lunch times are outside their Field Day times. Please contact Ms. Birozes or our PTA volunteer coordinator Cathy Shumate email@example.com. Please see the schedule below.
Parents, we encourage our students to continue their learning over the summer. Our school has purchased several technology subscriptions that will continue to be active throughout the summer. Education City, Brainpop, Brainpop Jr. and Brainpop Spanish can all be accessed through My eClass and no password should be needed if accessed that way.
Enjoy your weekend.
