LEGO WeDo sets on Their Way!
Thank you all for your generosity and support! We were successful with our fundraising and have 5 new LEGO WeDo 2.0 sets on the way. This will really make a difference in the robotics club. Some teams are getting close to completing the Robotix missions and will soon start with the LEGO WeDo robots. Thank you! Thank you!
Thank You to Avery's Family
Avery's family helped our LEGO WeDo fundraiser by buying us another set. This means with the Donorschoose.org fundraiser we now have 6 LEGO WeDo 2.0 sets. Thank you so much! If anyone else didn't get a chance to help in our fundraiser and would to do the same, just follow the link.
Dreaded Mission 8
We had our first team accomplish the dreaded mission 8 in Robotix. For this mission teams must knock down 6 empty soda cans without the robot actually touching them. Gio, Cole, Avery and Jack came up with a plan that worked and were able to complete the mission. They were very happy with their success.
Middle Schoolers on LEGO Mindstorms
The middle schoolers keep working hard on programming their LEGO Mindstorms robots. Gavin and Ayden are on their last mission in the sensor module. They have programmed their robot using ultrasonic, touch, and color sensors. Chay and Robert have been working on the orchard mission in the movement module. They are coming along but it doesn't help that everyone is sharing the one mission table. I admire their tenacity! Hopefully soon we will have more than one so the lines to use the table aren't so long. Keep up the amazing work guys!
Robotics Club Guest Speaker, Mr. Hamilton
The Robotics club had a quest speaker last Friday. Mr. Hamilton spoke to them about computers and computer science. He brought in a couple of raspberry pies (not as delicious as it sounds.) The kids were very interested in what he had to say and the robot and computers he shared. Thank you Mr. Hamilton!
Gavin, the Amazing Programmer
Gavin continues to do some amazing work in the robotics club. He writes some terrific code. I thoughtlessly shut down the computer before he could save his work on the 4-wall mission. The next day he came in and recreated it very quickly. It was a beautiful program to behold. The lines were straight and the angles were perfect. He wrote the program for the traffic mission in just one sitting. I usually ask that they program a little at a time and keep testing it but that is hard to do with just one mission table. But he was able to successfully complete the mission in one run. The man is a natural. I can't wait to see what else he can do.
LEGO Drive
We are still doing our LEGO drive. We are looking for any and all LEGO's including Duplo's. If anyone has any unwanted LEGO's, please feel free to drop them off.
Mission Tables Needed
Bronx's Dad is working on a new mission table for us. But we could use a couple more if there are any carpenters out there. I am posting a link for the plans for the tables.
