Taking Care Now and Always
Teenagers often hear "Enjoy these years, they are the best years of your life". Well, the SHS Guidance Department does not quite agree with this. It can actually be one of the hardest times of life. Fitting in and keeping up can be so hard. Social media and the pressures of always being connected to peers is a constant underlying pressure. Most adults we know would never want to go back to being a teeanger especially with social media and people taking pictures and videos EVERYWHERE!
Each day we challenge you to:
- To take a break from your digital world (social media, texting, Netflix, etc) each day for 1 hour.
- Spend 30 seconds to 10 minutes a day just paying attention to the world around you
Videos to help:
Nature Mindfulness - 3 minutes
Guided Mindfulness - 1 minutes
Acts of Kindness to make you smile
The Science of Happiness
Academics
While school and assignments often feel like busy work to students, your teachers create meaningful lessons with an end goal in mind. They are not just assigning things for the sake of making you work. They aim to educate you so that the next generation can be better than the one before. Education helps us to keep moving in a direction to becoming smarter and better able to navigate our future worlds whether those future worlds include more high school, college, or a trade/skill.
