NWEA
East China students have started to take the MAP growth NWEA assessment (Northwest Evaluation Association). MAP Growth is a computer adaptive test created by NWEA that students take two to three times per school year. The results provide teachers with information to help them deliver appropriate content for each student and determine each student’s academic growth over time. MAP assessments are given to 10.2 million students nationwide and will provide normative data that will help us create instruction that is tailored to each student's needs and abilities. Below is a link to the Parent Resource Guide that contains additional information.
Parent-Teacher Conferences Grades 6-12
Asking questions can be a key element of the parent-teacher conference, and educators often suggest coming in with some questions already in mind. Examples of some helpful questions include:
- What are my child's strengths and weaknesses?
- Is my child working up to her or his ability? Where could she or he use improvement?
- What can we do at home to support what is being done in the classroom?
The more familiar you are with your child's school, classes, and learning, the more dialogue can occur between you and your student. The parent-teacher conference is a chance to support your child's educational experience in one of the most direct and meaningful ways available.

"Try it Tuesday"
Tuesday, October 16th was the first "Try it Tuesday" by Chartwells Food Service at Eddy & Gearing Elementary. The students tried roasted butternut squash. It was fun to see the students try it for the first time. After trying the squash they voted. Liked it, Loved it, Tried it!
"Loved it" received the top vote at both schools!
