Articles of Confederation Advantages
This allowed the national government to declare wars. Therefore, it could build and control the army. Also it allowed the government to deal with foreign countries, on behalf of the states. It set up a legislature where each state had one vote.
Articles of Confederation Disadvantages
The national government couldn't enforce laws even if they way were ratified, so states could ignore them. The national government couldn't tax. There had to be 9 out of 13 states approval to pass a law and all states to agree for an amendment to made. There was no executive or judicial branch. Finally, it caused states to suffer economically especially when each state started taxing one another and hurting the trade.
Why they made the central government weak
I believe the designers of the Articles of Confederation made it a weak central government because the designers didn't want the central government to have power to take over the country.
