PARENTS!!!! Ms. K Needs your help! I am in need of some awesome parents to help hang/take down artwork. Ideally, I would love to always have artwork in the hallways, and be able rotate the pieces and projects on display monthly! If anyone is interested, please email me at kirsten.gould@cfisd.net so I can compile a list of helpers to contact when the time comes! I want us to display as much beautiful artwork as we can, but I need your help!
I am also working on lots of fun activities and projects for the spring and I am looking for donations from anyone who may have extra/unwanted of the following:
-yarn (and LOTS of it!!!)
-embroidery floss
-cardboard tubes
-sidewalk chalk
-tin foil

SMALL GROUP COUNSELING
As part of the counseling program at Hamilton Elementary, I will be offering small group counseling sessions this spring for grades K-5. The purpose of small group meetings is to help children to be more successful in both school and everyday life. Possible Topics may include:
· Friendship-making friends and getting along with others
· Divorce- issues dealing with a recent divorce or separation
· Grief-dealing with a death/loss in family
· Anxiety- learning how to manage stress and gain coping skills for success
· Self-Confidence- build self-esteem for those shy or withdrawn students
· Anger Management-Identifying and coping with anger
Groups will meet 4 times, once per week, during a non-instructional time. Groups will be made up of approximately three to eight students from their grade level. Only one small group will be formed for each grade. The group topic, per grade, that ends up having the most recommendations will be the one that is formed. Permission letters will be sent home once this is determined.
If you would like for your child to participate in a counseling group, or would like more information, please contact Michelle Erickson, Counselor, at michelle.erickson@cfisd.net.
FREE 6 Flags Fiesta Texas Ticket! The 6 Flags Read to Succeed incentive program is back with MAJOR changes! Students read for 6 hours for fun, and they will receive a FREE ticket to 6 Flags this summer. This year, parents of K-6 students are required to register and submit the number of hours read online using our school code. ALSO, students who complete the challenge by January 31st will receive a prize from the library for participating. Open the attachment to learn more!
Bookworm Festival – The Bookworm Festival will be February 1, 2020 at Jersey Village High School, and this is a FREE event! Doors open at 9:30 and the first session starts at 10:00. Questions on Student Lunch Accounts or Cafeteria Items?
If you are wanting to purchase cookies for the class to celebrate your child's birthday, please contact Ms. Jae at least two weeks in advance.
Lending-to-Learn Program
Your child has the option to check out a Chromebook and Kajeet wifi hotspot for home use. The Kajeet device provides filtered wifi blocking social media and YouTube. In order to participate in the Lending to Learn program, parents must first sign the agreement form which will be kept on file in the library for the entire year. Then each day a student wants to take home a laptop and hotspot, a slip must be turned in that morning to the library. At dismissal, students stop by the library to pick up the assigned devices and place inside their backpacks. Devices are to be returned the next morning by 9:00 a.m.. If you have any questions about the Lending to Learn program, please contact our librarian at jennifer.lucas@cfisd.net.
