6-12 ELA Forum: Teaching Writing

Featuring Marci Glaus, DPI English Language Arts Consultant

Join us Thursday, April 7!

Spend a day with Marci Glaus as she shares some amazing resources for teachers of writing. We will explore her labor of love, Wisconsin Writes. Wisconsin Writes provides a glimpse into example writing processes of Wisconsin writers from a variety of contexts. Each video story featured captures the recursive, complex, often messy process that we call writing from some of the best writers in the state. The videos showcase each writer working on a current writing task and talking out loud about what they are doing in the moment. Examine this amazing resource and explore ways to incorporate it into your instruction.

Marci will also share other resources, including NCTE's revised guidelines on the "Professional Knowledge for the Teaching of Writing," highlighting different purposes for writing, social aspects of writing, writing processes, the relationship between reading and writing, and much more.

Join us to network with other middle and high school ELA teachers! For a broader network, consider joining Marci's WI DPI English Language Arts PLC!
