Tiger Nation Newsletter
Weekly Report for March 25th, 2022
Tiger Nation:
The Gilbert Theatre Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Angela Hines will be presenting The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe on March 31st, April 1st and April 2nd in the Gilbert High School Auditorium. Showtime is 7 pm.
We will be administering the AzSci Arizona Science Test to all 11th grade students on Tuesday, March 29th and Wednesday, March 30th. This test is required by the Arizona Department of Education and all 11th grade students are expected to participate.
Please continue to talk to your child about the importance of consistently attending school as well as arriving at their classes on time.
Arriving late to school on a consistent basis can have longer-term academic effects. If showing up late to school becomes a habit, students may develop the notion that tardiness is acceptable behavior. This belief can negatively impact their future work ethic and employment opportunities. Alternatively, showing up on time to school everyday can help students develop the habit of being punctual with important commitments. This habit can serve high school students well through college and into their future careers.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support of Gilbert High School!

Need Tutoring?
Gilbert Public High Schools are excited to announce our partnership with Engage Arizona and The Graduation Alliance to provide additional support to our struggling students. The partnership will provide success coaching to our referred students.
We're excited to tell you about this free program, ENGAGE that will provide your student with an extra layer of academic support this school year. Here's what one parent had to say about this program:
"I couldn't ask for better dedication and support for my daughter. Our Academic Success Coach is a blessing and has incredible energy. I love how she got my daughter out of her shell and talking more (and finding her voice to speak up more). Thanks to our coach and this program, my daughter loves school and learning again. This program is the best thing that could ever happen for my daughter and me!" - ENGAGE parent
The District has partnered with the state and Graduation Alliance to provide an extra layer of support for 9-12 students and their families to boost school engagement and academic success during the school year.
If your student chooses to participate in the program, they will be assigned an Academic Success Coach who will answer questions, connect them with resources, and develop a plan to help them stay on track and engaged with their schooling!
Their coach will reach out by phone, email, text message, and more to provide support such as:
- Encouragement and motivation to help them stay on track with their studies
- Organization and study tips
- Technical support or assistance connecting with teachers
- Educational resources and exercises to help strengthen reading and math skills
- Referrals to local agencies and organizations that can provide social-emotional support
We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity! If you have any questions, feel free to email the program directly at ENGAGEAZ@Graduation Alliance.com or visit RegisterAZ.Graduation Alliance.com.

Testing Updates
AZScience Testing for all 11th grade students March 29th and 30th
We will be administering the AzSci Arizona Science Test to all 11th grade students on Tuesday, March 29th and Wednesday, March 30th. This test is required by the Arizona Department of Education and all 11th grade students are expected to participate.
In order to facilitate testing these students while the rest of the students are also on campus, we will be running special Testing/Advisory Schedules on these days. Please click on the link below to view the schedules for these days. These schedules are different from our “normal” Wednesday Tiger Time Bell Schedules.
AZScience Bell Schedule for Students
During the Testing/Advisory period, all students will report to their Tiger Time Advisory teacher. 11th grade Tiger Time Classes will be testing while 9th, 10th, and 12th grade Tiger Time classes will be participating in advisory activities.
11th grade AM EVIT students are expected to report to GHS for testing on March 29th and 30th. AM EVIT students who report to GHS for testing will be excused from EVIT on those days.
All 11th grade students should bring their Chromebook, charger, and a pair of headphones that will plug into the Chromebook on testing days.
ACT Aspire Testing for all 9th grade students on April 5th - LATE START DAY
Gilbert High School will be administering the ACT Aspire to all 9th grade students on Tuesday, April 5th at 7:30 AM. This will be a “late start” schedule for all 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students. Buses will run at normal time and then again exactly four hours later. More information with specific details of the bell schedule that day will be forthcoming.
All 9th grade students are required to test as the ACT Aspire is the new state assessment prescribed by the Arizona Department of Education for 9th grade students. The scores from this exam will be used to calculate the school letter grade and will also provide important data for teachers and administration.
All 9th grade students should bring their Chromebook, charger, and a pair of headphones that will plug into the Chromebook on testing days.
