New policy for vistitors in our building - Lobby Guard
Beginning April 2, we began using LobbyGuard in all of our buildings. The visitor management system runs a background check on each individual that enters the building, looking for individuals who are legally banned from visiting schools (ie. sex offenders, restraining orders) This pilot program will be used regularly for the remainder of the school year and will be fully implemented for the 2018-19 school year.
All visitors will be asked for a state-issued license or identification. If you do not have a license or state ID, you will not be permitted to enter the building unless you are there to attend a meeting/supervised function.
All visitors will be asked to sign in and out using the program. You will be required to wear the photo badge that is printed at the time of check-in during the entirety of your visit.
We understand that there certain circumstances where our families may not have proper identification. Our administrators will work through those unique situations on a case by case basis.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the district.
The safety and security of our students and staff are one of our highest priorities.
AIR - STANDARDIZED TESTING
Dear Sycamore Families,
As we move through the 2017-2018 school year, our students will once again be presented with the opportunity to demonstrate their progress as part of the schedule for federally and state-mandated standardized testing.
The state’s annual assessments provide a snapshot of your child’s progress in their understanding and application of curriculum standards. From a district perspective, these results allow us to benchmark ourselves against similar districts and to identify trends in data that will guide our work with teachers and students. Our teachers work diligently to fully prepare your child to be successful on these assessments and in other aspects of their growth and development.
Below you will find a link that delineates the specific testing schedule for students in grades 3-12. Please click on the link that applies to your child(ren):
We are so appreciative of the support you provide your children in our partnership together toward academic excellence. If you have any questions regarding testing, please contact your building administrator.
Sincerely,
Karen. B. Naber
Assistant Superintendent

WEE DELIVER
Wee Deliver is coming!! For those new to Symmes, we will be running a school wide postal system, with Mrs. Wuebbolt's class as the Main Post Office! All students will be given an address and will be able to write letters to all their friends and siblings throughout the month of May. The student's address will coordinate with their homeroom number. For example, a student in Room 1 will have this address:
1 Symmes Lane, Loveland, OH 45140 and so on according to their homeroom. We will have mailboxes in the hallways for the children to place their mail. This is a wonderful time to teach students about how our mail system works. Each classroom will have postal workers and will be able to purchase stamps for ONE PENNEY! The money collected from the stamps will be donated to a charity. The stamp design winner will be announced soon. We encourage parents, grandparents and extended family to write to the children. Stamps can be purchased through our front office. Our opening assembly will be on Tuesday, April 24th at 2:30. Parents are welcome to attend.
