Future Ready Wildcats
De Soto High School staff and students endeavor to model the following core values:
INTEGRITY, INQUIRY, COMMUNICATION, PERSEVERANCE, and REFLECTION.
Wildcats and Families,
Thank you to all of our families for making the learning environment selection for your student via Skyward Family Access. The information helps us begin the process of organizing course schedules to meet the needs of both Onsite and Optional Remote students.
The district has updated their webpage regarding the September proposed schedule in the event the district is in the Hybrid Learning Environment. We will regularly provide school-specific calendar/schedule updates on our website based on the learning environment of the district (Onsite, Hybrid, Remote).
August 17th is the first day for fall activities, with many try-outs and practices taking place at various times around campus. Specific information can be found below. Good Luck, Wildcats!
This coming week, we will host "School Year Prep", a time for DHS students to complete some important items necessary for a successful return to school in September. This includes senior and underclassmen pictures and ID cards (activity passes are printed on the ID cards if fees were paid when enrolled online), 2019-2020 yearbook pickup, athletic physical and immunization paperwork submission, and parking passes. Students new to the district will also be able to pick up their MacBook. The dates/times:
- Monday, August 17th - 9:00 am-11:00 am and 12:00pm-4:00 pm
- Tuesday, August 18th - 4:00 pm-7:00 pm
- Wednesday, August 19th - 9:00 am-11:00 am and 12:00 pm-4:00 pm
If you've been on campus this summer, you have seen the work taking place to expand the DHS parking lot. The passing of the most recent bond has allowed the district to expand the lot by close to 250 spaces, and based on previous years - should be more than enough for our student drivers to park in the lot that immediately surrounds DHS.
We found that most students do not use their assigned hallway lockers throughout the year. As a result, we will not automatically assign a locker to every student. Instead, students interested in having a hallway locker assigned to them will need to request a locker by contacting our registrar, Amy Carver (ACarver@usd232.org).
More information will be sent out next week concerning learning environment schedules, Wildcat Kick-off (our freshman half day), and the first few days of the school year.

Notes from the Nurse:
Immunizations: Please email any copies of updated immunizations to me at the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
Remember that all incoming Juniors need at least one of the Meningococcal vaccines AFTER their 16th birthday.
Medications be administered at school: If your child takes a regularly scheduled medication or an “as needed or emergency medication to be administered by the nurse at school, I must have a current signed doctor’s order. The medication must be in a prescription bottle clearly labeled with the student’s name and the medication. This can be brought the first day of class for the student. I am unable to administer medications with just the labeled prescription bottle. It MUST be accompanied by the signed doctor’s order. Please email me with any questions regarding medication administration.
Health conditions: To provide better care for your child at school, if your child has one of the following health conditions: diabetes, severe allergies or anaphylaxis, a seizure disorder or asthma. Please remember to complete the questionnaires on USD 232 website under Departments >Health Services> Important Information and Documents> Health Conditions.
