Garrett Morgan was born on March 4,1877, Paris Kentucky. When he was 18 he moved to Cleveland, Ohio. He worked making clothes. He also married Medge Nelson, then got divorced. He got married again to Mary Hasek, and had 3 sons.
Important Inventions and Other Accomplishments
Garrett Morgan then opened a clothing shop. He also owned a patent-inventing the gas mask. He witnessed a car accident, and invented the traffic lights. He also invented the safety hood, and he was the first one to try it on. He saved an injured man in a fire using his invention, the safety hood. He then invented the first chemical hair straightener at age 18. He then established his own news paper called the Cleveland Call, also at age 18.
