Masks wearing remains a requirement at all CUSD schools
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey issued an Executive Order today that loosens COVID-19 restrictions in the community. The Order takes away the authority for municipalities (such as the City of Chandler, towns of Gilbert and Queen Creek, and Maricopa County) to mandate mask-wearing.
It does not, however, remove the order requiring school districts and charter schools to require mask-wearing. Mask-wearing remains a requirement at all Chandler Unified schools and offices. Here is a statement of clarification provided from the Arizona Department of Education:
“Dear School Leaders,
We wanted to share information we received from the Arizona Department of Health Services today in light of Governor Ducey's executive order relaxing COVID-19 restrictions. AZDHS Emergency Measure 2020-04 is still in effect, requiring masks in all K-12 schools. Masking is one of the top mitigation strategies for safe in-person learning as recommended by the CDC.
Masks must be worn on school campuses, on school buses and during school-associated activities by all students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors.
Thank you,
Arizona Department of Education”
Chandler Unified will continue to review and respond to evolving COVID-19 guidelines. We remain committed to all health and safety requirements in order to keep our staff and students safe and our classrooms open for learning.

Through networking, collaborations, and friendships, the group strives to make a greater impact together. Recent initiatives include a podcast called The SIP, Coke Scholars Care (Coke Scholars doing good in the midst of the pandemic), and the fifth year of a coaching program that partners seasoned alumni with first-year Scholars as they transition to college. Every 5 years, all alumni are invited to a Coca-Cola Scholars Leadership Summit.
PROM/GRADUATION UPDATES
Juniors & Seniors!
We would like to share some important information about end of the year activities for our students. Due to COVID-19 restrictions in place for gatherings and public events set by the CDC and the Arizona Department of Health Services, all CUSD high schools are officially cancelling proms for 2021. This decision was not made lightly, and we had hoped we could still hold this memorable event for our students. Unfortunately, a dance is not feasible at this time.
Graduation Announcements Distribution for the class of 2021 was on March 31, 2021 during all lunches. Anything that was not picked up during that time, will be available in the bookstore.
Cap/Gown Distribution will be on May 7th in the north gym starting at 8:00am.
As we move forward with our planning for the Class of 2021 graduation ceremony, graduating students will be allowed to invite 2 guests to attend at this time. Two latex free wristbands will be issued to seniors to distribute to their guests. The latex free wristbands MUST be worn to obtain access to the Jerry Loper Field bleachers and will be strictly enforced.
We continue to plan for our traditional in-person graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 25th 2021 at Jerry Loper Stadium here at Hamilton High School at 7:30 pm. Please be aware that we will follow the mitigation strategies below and others if required by Maricopa County Health Department.
- Masks for everyone in attendance
- Social Distancing
- Each CUSD High School site will allow two (2) people to attend graduation. (This number could increase based on COVID and necessary mitigation in the community)
*Our graduation ceremony will be live streamed for our families and guests
We are looking forward to our graduation ceremony so we can celebrate all of Hamilton Huskies. Please know we appreciate your continued patience and support.
Thank You,
Hamilton High School
