Description
Cooperative Learning is the process of intentionally grouping students and providing opportunities for them to learn together. Through a variety of instructional strategies employed by the teacher, students can experience positive interdependence and individual accountability - the two cornerstones of cooperative learning. This professional learning series is designed to provide teachers with simple yet powerful strategies that will lead to increased student engagement and learning.
Professional Learning Goals:
Infuse energy and passion into our classrooms through class building and team building
Increase active engagement for all students
Know how and when to form learning teams
Understand why cooperative learning is more powerful than group work
Be able to define and recognize positive interdependence and individual accountability
Infuse simple yet powerful strategies into lesson plans
Create a learning environment where students take responsibility for their learning
