Where We Are in the World: Third Grade IB Unit
We are very excited to start our new IB unit for the next 6 weeks. We will be studying our homes and homes around the world. You will be helping your child with a couple of projects. We are sending home a separate letter today to help you get started.
We want the students to know that people in different areas build different homes in different location with different supplies based on their surrounding and available material. BUT we also want them to understand that a home is more than just a structure. No matter where on earth a home is built, we all share common needs. We all want to feel love, security, cared for, and other important human qualities in our homes.
Students are going to be required to interview you or a grandparent, aunt, etc. to find out about their past homes. They are also going to build their "dream home" and be able to explain the location and structures they would want to have in their homes, as well as the human qualities they hope to share in their home.
Look for more information to come home!

Vokis and Mandarin
We also created our first Vokis....animated Avitars. We will be using those with assignments. I could not get those to load here but I do have a link to one on our classroom blog.
I also recorded our class counting to 10 in Mandarin! YAY! But the file was also to large to share on here or the blog. I am looking for another way to share that content with parents, but we are well on our way with this just being September!
Conferences
I started conferences last week. I am trying to meet with every parent. Please email me a time after school that would be convenient for you to come, and we will work something out before Fall Break.
Thanks!
