A transformative environment where students become SCHOLARS

PLP Teacher Talks

We will be meeting over the next week to check in and get our PLP's (Professional Learning Plans) all squared away! You'll be receiving a Google invitation soon - please RSVP to it.

Talks should take about a half hour. During this time, we'll discuss the school/district wide indicators, your self-selected indicator, and the indicator chosen by the admin team. We'll discuss any support you might need/want.

What do you have to bring?

Just be prepared to discuss what support you might want and your self-selected goal. We're happy to help you choose!

The TEF Folder of our VIP Binder is linked here for your reference: TEF Folder

Remember that all observed indicators must come from domains 2 and 3. Don't choose 2.2 A behavior expectations, 3.3 B Academic Discourse, or 3.4 A Checking For Understanding as those are already goals for all of us!

Don't be afraid to reach out to other teachers about their experiences or recommendations :)

MS All Classes Schedule Tuesday!

Tuesday will be our very first ALL CLASSES schedule for the middle school. It will follow the same periods as a Wednesday schedule, but you will have 54 minutes each period. Schedule pictured here - but also found in the VIP Binders!

CELDT Testing

While elementary continues to finish up with CELDT Testing, the MS group testing sessions will begin this Wednesday. Please see the schedule linked (and pictured) below for more details.

Instructional Focus:

2.2A Behavioral Expectations and 2.4A Routines & Procedures

Let's continue to build classroom cultures that "sustain and drive" academic excellence as Doug Lemov describes in Teach Like a Champion 2.0.

Remember, DISCIPLINE (1 of the 5 principles of classroom culture we discussed last week) is NOT synonymous with punishment. It simply means teaching students the "right and successful" way to do things.

  • What is your vision of "doing right" in your classroom?
  • Are students doing what you asked?
  • Have you taught them the "right and successful" way to do things?
  • Have you had them "practice perfect" so that "perfect" becomes a matter of habit and routine?

If you are feeling pretty good about the DISCIPLINE aspect of your classroom culture, take some time this week to consider the other 4 principles we discussed (MANAGEMENT, CONTROL, INFLUENCE, and ENGAGEMENT).

Do you have a healthy balance of all 5 principles? Is there an area that may need some more focus this week?
