Principally Speaking

The week went well at DCMS! Students and staff continue to work hard at teaching and learning. We will be celebrating FFA Week next week with dress-up days, trivia questions, and prizes. See the article below for specific information. Please encourage your student to participate! We DO have school on Monday, February 18th.

For parents of 8th graders, DHS course scheduling will be taking place for some students. Students with last names of Haddix to Mulvaney should report to the high school at 6 PM. Students with last names of Nelson to Vanbebber should report to the high school at 7:15 PM. All parents and students should enter DHS through door 1. From there, you will pick up a folder and be directed to the appropriate computer lab to complete course scheduling. The high school sent letters via USPS to the families of all 8th graders with this information. If you missed the previous night, please contact the high school guidance department.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Celebrate FFA Week February 18 - 22!

Next week Danville will be celebrating FFA week with thousands of schools across the country. Each year FFA chapters around the country celebrate National FFA Week. It’s a time to share what FFA is and the impact it has on members every day.

Each morning a trivia question will be asked after the pledge of allegiance. All students are eligible to participate. All students have to do to participate is put their name (first & last), grade and the answer to the trivia question on a Post-it note. Students can then submit their answers in the designated tubs around the school. On Friday, a winner will be drawn in each lunch, and winners will receive a cool prize that includes gift cards!

ALSO, we will be having dress-up days! Please encourage your students to dress up as well!

Monday: ALOHAAAA day

Tuesday: Tie Dye

Wednesday: Camo

Thursday: Ag Shirt (tractor, animal, 4-H... it's a pretty broad theme... just as long as it is Ag, it counts!)

Friday: Blue and Gold

How Can Parents Help Us with Attendance?

When your child is sick

  • Only let your child stay home if he/she is truly sick. Sometimes complaints of a headache or stomach ache might be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home. Contact the school counselor for support if you think this might be happening.
  • The Sick Day Guidelines for Families may be helpful if you are not sure if you should keep your child at home due to illness. See the guideline using the link below.

Appointments and vacations

  • Make every effort to schedule doctor, dentist, and other appointments after school hours.
  • If your child must be out of school for an appointment, get him/her back to school for at least part of the school day.
  • Plan vacations when school is not in session.
