May 22, 2021: Face covering update; communitiy survey
Take our survey!
We are asking our KCSD community to weigh in on how the district should use specific state and federal funds. Our 2021 Community Survey will ask you to choose spending priorities for the state's Student Investment Account (SIA) and for one-time federal CARES Act money. Your input will help with our strategic planning for these funds. These funds have specific allowable uses and the multiple choice answers provided are based on those. However, we offer a place for comments after every question and encourage you to share your thoughts. Please invest a few minutes of your time and let your voice be a part of the conversation. Thank you for your support of our students, our schools and our district. To take the survey, click on the image or the survey button below.
Face covering update
In alignment with new Oregon Department of Education and Oregon Health Authority guidance, Klamath County School District will make the following changes to face covering requirements:
OUTDOORS: District students, staff, and visitors are no longer required to wear face coverings during outdoor activities and events. This includes students arriving and leaving school campuses as well as outdoor recess, P.E. and other classes, and graduation ceremonies.
OUTDOOR SPORTING EVENTS
- Students, staff, volunteers, and spectators are no longer required to wear face coverings at outdoor athletic events.
INDOOR SPORTING EVENTS: Face covering requirements differ for student athletes, coaches, and spectators because the district will not get involved in verifying vaccination status for the general public. (Note: All previous physical distancing and capacity restrictions still apply. Please check with schools for specifics.)
- Spectators are still required to wear face coverings while indoors.
- Fully vaccinated players, coaches, and game support staff are no longer required to wear face coverings while indoors at an athletic event. A person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine. Vaccination must be confirmed by the district.
- Not fully vaccinated players, coaches, and game support staff are still required to wear a face covering while indoors at an athletic event.
These changes do not limit people from wearing face coverings outside, and families should make their own decisions. Please be respectful of an individual’s choice on whether or not to wear a face covering.
We ask everyone to continue to follow all required protocols inside school buildings, including wearing face coverings, washing hands, and maintaining physical distancing. Parents, please keep children home if they are not feeling well. If you qualify and have not yet done so, consider getting the vaccine. Thank you!
