Book News
Updates on literacy, books, and reading.
Digital Equity
Some interesting articles about digital equity and fairness. We all assume our students are naturals, but that's not actually true. Kids' tech abilities depend on access and we have plenty of students who don't have it.
Bookish Suggestions
Outlaws of Time by N.D. Wilson
I loved his Boys of Blur, and this book is just as strange and wonderful. Kids who enjoy some uncertainty with their reading once they can get past never quite knowing what's going on with the time travel. For higher readers, due to the creepiness of the snake arms.
Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo
I shouldn't have to say any more than it's by Kate DiCamillo. So just read it because you know you'll love it.
Booked by Kwame Alexander
Kwame's first book, Crossed, is one of the most popular in the library and Booked will be just the same. This one is also written in verse, is about soccer, and is the first in a trilogy.
Movie Adaptation News!
Book Art
Enjoy the cover reveal of Aaron Becker's new book, Return...the final book in the Journey Trilogy (Journey, Quest, Return). These are gorgeous wordless picture books and having read both Journey and Quest to fifth graders the past couple years, I can guarantee they love them. You're never too old for a beautiful picture book. Out this summer.
