§504--Renner MS
Ms. Andrade, Academic Specialist
Welcome Letter
Dear Renner Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to a new school year at Renner Middle School! My main responsibility of the §504 plan is to monitor the administering and execution of the student’s §504 accommodation plan in their classes.
I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Sara Andrade, and I am the Academic Specialist at Renner Middle School. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) this school year to make it a positive and rewarding experience here at Renner.
The biggest tool for success is to know and use the accommodation plan. Please encourage your child to use what is available to him/her. Also, please encourage your child to communicate with their teachers about what best helps him/her succeed in their class.
You may contact me throughout the year if you believe a review is necessary. Meetings this year will be held virtually or by phone. The §504 committee will always look at data such as teacher feedback, grades, standardized testing, and medical evaluations, parent & student input to determine grade level accommodations.
When it is time to review your child's plan, we will always ask the teachers if the student is routinely and regularly using their accommodation(s). Any unused accommodation(s) may be removed from the plan. Please, contact me if you would like to review your child's accommodations.
If you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s class schedule, please contact their counselor. If your child has a schedule/teacher change at any point in the year, please notify me to ensure their accommodation plan is sent to the new teacher.

STUDENT PRIVACY:
Please remember that campus staff may not discuss a student with a step-parent or grandparent unless the parent has signed a release form or there is a court order assigning those rights.
If there isn’t a court order, use FL(EXHIBIT C) which allows a parent to authorize a non-parent (ex: step-parent or grandparent) to have access to the records and/or authorizes the staff to discuss the student with that individual listed by the parent.
