Description

Manatees have a layer of blubber under their skin.Their skin is wrinkly and has almost no hair.They are usually 10 feet tall and weigh 1,200 pounds.they also have fingernails on the end of their flippers.They have small and a flat face.

Behavior

Manatees eat mostly plants and sometimes swallows small fish that are stuck in the plants.They can eat 150 pounds a day and spend 6 to 8 hours a day eating.Manatees communicate by squeaks and squeals.manatees are quiet and play by themselves by rolling on their backs.

Habitat

Manatees swim in shallow waters in coast,oceans,and rivers.Manatees migrate in summer as far as the Carolinas and Virgina.You can find them in Central and South Amarica.The water needs to be less than 15 feet deep to protect from predators.
