Google Classroom

Students: Use code awousem to join our Google Classroom. This is where we post announcements about events, scholarships, and school information. So far, less than 600 students have joined. Please be sure to join so you can stay informed.

Academic Advising

Classroom academic advising has ended. Now, students must meet with their counselor for an individual advising meeting. Meetings for sophomores and juniors have begun. Meetings for freshmen and seniors will begin soon and details will be provided once available. Parents are encouraged to attend these meetings. Click here to review classroom academic advising sessions and schedule an individual advising appointment.

As we work through academic advising, we ask that all students research their plans for after high school. This way, we can help students begin working toward those goals now. For example, if you want to attend a specific college, then let’s make sure you are taking the classes in high school that will enhance your chances of admission. If you’ve already thought about your potential major, you can take classes during high school that introduce you to that major. Students who are interested in going to work or joining the military after high school may benefit from work-based learning in 11th and 12th grades or our NROTC program.

Students will receive their course selection worksheet for the 2023/2024 school year on October 25th. The form is due, with a parent's signature, by October 26th.

AP Capstone Program

The AP Capstone Program cultivates critical skills that students need to be successful in college and in life. Students who complete the AP Capstone Program often stand out during the college admissions process. First, students will take AP Seminar and AP Language during their junior year. Second, students will take AP Research during their senior year. Students who are enrolled in AP Research do not have to enroll in a 12th grade literature class. Students who successfully complete AP Seminar and AP Research will receive an AP Seminar and Research Certificate. Students can go one step further and earn an AP Capstone Diploma by completing AP Seminar, AP Research, and passing four additional AP classes and AP exams at any time during high school. Small Group with Mr. Metcalf

Mr. Metcalf, our Graduation Counselor, would like to host a small group to study "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens." The group will focus on self-image, friendship, peer pressure, goals, and more. Please contact Mr. Metcalf at stephen.metcalf@ccboe.net if you are interested in being a part of this group.

YouScience

YouScience is an assessment to determine students' best career choices based on their strengths and interests. Career and college activities from YouScience will be used each year during high school. To access YouScience:

  1. Log in to ClassLink at https://myapps.classlink.com/home
  2. In ClassLink, navigate to Infinite Campus
  3. In Infinite Campus, click "More" on the left side of the screen. Then, click "SLDS" on the right side of the screen.
  4. On the new page, click "My Career Plan" and then click "Go To YouScience."

Once in the YouScience platform, students can research and save colleges, careers, and other opportunities they are interested in. Also, there are grade-level specific activities students should complete. To complete the grade-level tasks, navigate to YouScience as described above. Then, in the top right corner, click the small circle beside the student's name. Then, click "Grade-Level Activities."
