With a lot of animals.

Chapter 3: essay about how hunting was the most important role in the Abenaki tribe

hunting was important role in the Abnaki tribe because it provides foods, material, and bones for weapons and tools.

One reason that hunting was the most important role in the Abenaki tribe. Is that hunting provided food For example. It keeps people from starving, to fill people up, and it keeps people energy up. Did you know only men could hunt? Women could not.

Another reason that hunting was the most important role in the Abnaki tribe.

Is that it provides material. For example to make clothes, shoes, and to trade it. Did you know men hunted bears, deer, and moose.

Although hunting was the most important role in the Abenaki tribe because it provided food and because it provides material especially hunting was the most important role in the Abenaki tribe because it provided bones for tools, weapons. For example tools to garden, tools to make weapons, and to make jewelry. Did you know that women made some tools and they were the only ones that could make jewelry? That is why hunting was the most important role in the Abenaki tribe. Do you know now that hunting was the most important role in the Abenaki tribe? Well do you?

Chapter 4: Hunting mini story

me and my 7 hunters were 100 feet away from our village. We have been waiting for 1 hour trying to not I make a sound because we did not want to scare the moose we have been watching. “The woods look so green the air is so fresh. I hear the birds chirping peep, peep”. Oh the woods are so nice. I and my 7 hunters were attacking the moose in the woods. Oh no we scared the moose. It chased us back to the village. “Run I said” “we lost him I said”. Quick grab the twine Riley then I went in the tool shed and grabbed the twine. Then I and my hunters went in the woods. “John tie the birch tree I said”. Then me and my other trees. We did that so we will not fall of the cliff incase the moose chased us. Finally we snuck up on the moose again. My hunters threw the spears and they all mist then I threw a spear at it and I got it right in the heart. I felt so bad it was either his life or mine. His life was important but 30 peoples life is a little more important than 1 moose life. I had to do what I had to do. Me and my hunters were done for today. We had enough food to feed 45 people that was more than enough. Our day of hard work is now done.

chapter 5:all about women

Gardening

Women had jobs in the Abenaki gardens did you know that only women could garden? Some things women grew were squash, beans, and corn those are called the three sisters. The Three sisters are important because they were one of the fastest plants to grow and they grew together. Women also made gardening tools made of animal bones. They also used the tools in the garden to road till and do other things to the garden. The way that the Abenaki women fertilized the garden was that they buried dead fish to fertilize the soil.

Clothes

Women made clothes for the tribe to wear. They killed animals to make clothes did you know that? Women used animal skin to make clothes they also used animal bones to make needles to sew the animal skins together. They didn’t use regular animal skin they dried the animal skin out to make clothe. They dried the skin out because no one would want a gooey, wet, and bloody pair of clothes. They made moccasins made of moose and a little bit of rabbit fur. Did you know that?

Cooking

Women cooked over a hot fire. That was a lot harder than cooking on a kitchen stove did you know they could get burned? Do you thin they would had wished they had a stove if they knew about it? Some things women cooked were wild berries , meats , and shell fish. Women also used mortars to grind stuff like berries and stuff In shells. They used wooden pattles to stir stuff in stews.

Pots /baskets

Chapter 7 : all about hunting

hunting

weapons

hard work may be hard but nothing in life is easy. By Riley Hildebrandt

did you know that men worked hard to hunt. Did you know that Abenaki men used spears bows arrows and knifes to hunt?

Men hunted using spears , bows ,and knifes. Men stayed alive by hunting to feed themselves and if a animal attacked them all they had to do was kill it.

Animals

People lives depended on animals. Did you know that ?

Somethigs the Abenaki men were moose , deer , and bear. The animals were very strong. They had weapons to protect them selves while on a hunt.

Wigwams were portable house. Men used wigwams because they were easy to take down and put up. They were made of wood and bark. It was easy to build in the woods. Men used deer skins and bark to cover the wigwam.

Strategies

Men had to have strategies to hunt. They couldn’t just let an animal see them. Men used camouflage to hunt. They also hunted in groups so if something happened there would be other men to help out. The men painted there arrows so the animals couldn’t see the arrows. They hunted in spring months wen there are a lot of animals out. That is why hunting is hard. I don’t think you would want to hunt? would you?

chapter 8 : sign of the beaver

Sign of the beaver

We read sign of the beaver because it taught us about the Abenaki tribe.like how to be loyal and other information. Like how to hunt and how the Abenakis were very respectful and it taught me how it was amazing how the Abenaki tribe survived in the wild. The Abenaki tribe was loyal by trusting one another and they were always respectful to on one another.
